I don't know about the rape issue and as far as I'm concerned I'll stick with the "innocent until proven" axiom. As to the rest, yes he had a long and productive life, but personally I did not care for him as an actor or his politics.
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

.............. I watched it because I liked the movie Vikings, where Tony Curtis kills Kirk Douglas in the end. I liked that movie too. Ernest Borgnine in it too.

Something else about being a rapist as I recall.
He made some good movies for sure. He raped a girl in the movie "In Harm's Way:"

Lennie: I always enjoyed Kirk Douglas's performances and I hope he will rest in peace. It is great that he lived such a long and rewarding life. Hold into the wind VarmintGuy

My guess is considering his advanced age Kirk Douglas was likely a Democrat from the 'old school' anti-communist Democrat party, not the socialist, liberal snowflake party it has become. Ronald Reagan had been a 'old school' Democrat as well.

You'd be wrong. He was a well known commie.

You'd be wrong. He was a well known commie. Not the first time I've been wrong,...not by a long shot. I based my guess on the countless 'old school' loyal U.S.A.loving Democrats of his era I've known over the years, some of which remained registered as Dems out of tradition but voted Republican as the Democrat party's values changed.

Lonely Are the Brave, was a good movie of his. Me too. One of his best movies, and one of his favorite movies too.

Was he in Stagecoach?
asking for someone No. Three movies, that I'm aware of. John Wayne's, a re-make with Ann-Margaret and an abortion with a bunch of anti-gun hillbilly singers like Kris Kristofferson. He wasn't in any of them. He was in The War Wagon, with John Wayne, which is the closest thing I can think of. 1965 re-make starred Alex Cord whose only other really notable work was a supporting part in Airwolf on TV. He looked kinda like Kirk, so there's that.
