If you can wait a little, you can maybe catch a used Toric for around $500. What don’t you like about the eye relief on the Conquest??

I find constant eye relief less forgiving. Dif'rent strokes, etc.

Y'all have given me likely suspects. Thanks. I will have to knock around and get a look at them soon.

This is an outstanding scope and a great price.

Can you please clarify why a constant eye relief might be less forgiving?

I am starting to shop for a new scope myself to upgrade from my Leupold VX3i 2.5-8x36. One of the things that drives me nuts with the Leup are huge eye relief changes with magnification - but I do have to admit that it is holding zero pretty well.

I know this thread is old and the OP has probably already made up his mind, but I'd just use the Conquest he has.

How about the Steiner GS3 2-10x42 4a? Awesome German optics, assembled in Colorado. Was $879.99 and we have it on sale for only $599.99.

The new Steiner GS3 “game sensing” scope utilizes exclusive CAT (color adjusted transmission) lens coatings to amplify contrast in the peak human vision sensitivity range. The optimized contrast effectively separates game from leafy or shadow-dappled backgrounds, exposing your target to a clean, accurate shot. And the GS3 5x zoom range lets hunters from eastern whitetail country to western big game ranges pair their new scope with their favorite centerfire, rimfire or muzzleloader rifle. And or course, Steiner’s bedrock reliability will always deliver unfailing performance, whatever firearm or target you prefer.

New 5x Zoom Range provides sharp resolution at long distances for more accurate shooting for wide open areas.

CAT™ Color Adjusted Transmission amplifies contrast in the peak human vision sensitivity range, to spot game in any environment.
Steiner 4A Reticle provides a simple, uncluttered aiming tool

Short Mounting Length of just 5.4 inches for mounting on short actions, muzzleloaders or lightweight mountain rifles.

Rugged 30mm Tube milled from solid aluminum stock so there are no welds or seams, for greater strength and durability.

Waterproof/Fogproof durable construction you can trust to stand up to any cold or wet condition.

My first plane reticle scopes are better in lower light than my second plane reticle scopes. I realize that only the target is magnified when I turn up the variable power on my 1.5-6x42 and 2.5-10x42 30mm scopes and the crosshair covers the same amount at all the number settings, but that crosshair looks very large and dark against a low light target at the higher power settings.

My other auto is a .45

I bought two of these from Doug a while back....hell of a lot of scope for the money.

Ditto- I could see if changing a reticle but not sure what improvement anything new for under $500 would get him.
