The latest ones are coming with front slide serrations (which I could take or leave) and no more half-moon front-strap cutout (which I like a lot). I bought mine with the Ameriglo night sights on from the factory, basically like Trijicon HDs. For some reason, the Gen 5 Model 19 comes with the smooth trigger face, too (which is a big plus), just like my Gen 5 Model 26. I've heard it's because they get an extra import point towards being "for sporting purposes" by having the "Marksman barrel," so they no longer have to have the "target style" serrated trigger.

Looking forward to taking it for a whirl.

Ditto here. Only shot for function, but it fits nicely, good trigger.

Wish we could as well.

Gotta go Gen3 here in PRK.

Looks familiar....grin.

I've been carrying mine every day since it came in, about a week ago. I like it a lot. Especially the smooth trigger.

What could be better than that to which all other brands/models are compared?

The Model T was before the F150 as the G19 was before a plethoral of better, cheaper pistols.

dla: You're talkin out your ass there dla.
Those of us who have used the Glocks for decades now for both recreation and self defense (both personal and professional!) KNOW how well and how reliably they function/perform!
IF.... there was a better, cheaper, more reliable pistol on the market I would be owning/using "it" - there isn't so I'm not!
Long live Glock Arms Corporation.
Their logo reads "Glock Perfection" - and my extensive experience with them and use of them lends credence to their motto with me.
Sheesh are we "growing" another "small twig" here?

The Glock, and the follow on striker-fired pistols from S&W, Sig, Springfield, etc are all pretty well made. reliable, serviceable, shootable defensive tools.

In my opinion, they are all more alike than different. Personal preferences are more subjective than objective.

Even dla didn't offer any quantifiably 'better' choices.

I've had my Gen 5 19 for about a year and a half and it's the first Glock I've really liked. The main thing that sold me on it was no finger grooves. The finger groove models never worked for me. I also like it best with no backstrap. The texture of the grip is nice too. I put a Streamlight TLR-6 on it + night sights as I originally wanted it for a night stand gun. I bought a Dara IWB holster that works with the TLR-6 and I wound up carrying it a lot more than I thought I would.
I recently bought a 43x and I finally got to shoot it this week. Also a nice gun but much snappier than the 19. We can only have 10 shot magazines in NY so I'll probably carry the 43x most of the time.

I've been a 1911 (first and foremost) and revolver guy all my life (I'm 70) and have never owned a striker fired handgun or anything chambered in 9mm but a few weeks ago I got a wild hair and purchased a new Glock G17 Gen 5 and so far I've ran 150 rounds of Winch. white box 124 gr FMJ through it.

The trigger, compared to what I've always shot, is going to take some more getting used to but I sorta like the gun so far.

Not wanting to start reloading for another caliber I ordered 2000 rounds of Speer Lawman 124 gr. TMJ from Target Sports for $180.00 shipped per 1000.

Once you learn the trigger reset on a Glock, it's very fast to shoot.

Yep. Once you learn the reset, it might as well be a 1911.

Just got back from the range for the first session with it. Shot 150 rounds of 115 grain FMJ range ammo. No problems. Big surprise, right? A Glock not having any issues?

Shoots great. I much prefer it to my Gen 4 Glock 19, which will be going down the road some time soon. Couldn't stand those finger grooves. I never minded the finger groves on the Gen 4 17, because they lined up right for me, but the finger groves on the Gen 4 19 just didn't. One finger was always resting on a peak instead of a valley as intended.

I'm thinking that this Gen 5 Glock 19 will eventually, quite soon, replace my Gen 5 Glock 26 for EDC role. Soon as I get 500 rounds or so under my belt with it, along with putting some carry ammo down range with it.

Even with all the newer, smaller pistols available, I think the G19 still makes a lot of sense for a carry piece.

It's in the "Goldilocks" zone.
