https://futurism.com/the-byte/scien...212e55ca-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2020_02_18_06_42German scientists say that for the first time ever, they’ve created a lab-grown artificial genome that can reproduce itself like a natural one. It’s not quite one of those replicants from “Blade Runner,” but it’s a step toward the holy grail of synthetic biology: fully artificial organisms that can survive and reproduce like the real thing. In a paper published in the journal Nature Communications this week, researchers from the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry describe how they assembled genomes made up of blueprints for proteins — and demonstrated that it was capable of replicating 116 kilobytes worth of its own RNA and DNA. Next up, according to a press release, the team plans to build an “enveloped system” that can reproduce like this last one — but also consume nutrition and dispose of waste, like a living cell.
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Big Time moral dilemma for me. Playing god vs. curing diseases, healing the sick or injured.
If they can grow synthetic organs or limbs that aren't rejected by the host, it's a miracle. Same for Stem Cells that may cure Parkinsons, Alzheimers, etc, etc, etc, assuming they can replicate only the stem cells. If they have to grow a synthetic human to obtain stem cells that doesn't work for me.
Hard to know. God did gift these folks with the resources and intelligence to make these discoveries..............

Genesis 1:27-So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
By observing man (humans) and noting his unending efforts to create, even to the extreme of creating life with the goal of replicating himself, I always wonder how anyone can deny the existence of God.
We, as beings, endeavor each day to be like the God who created us in his image. We make light where there is darkness. We place stars and planets in the sky (satellites and space stations). We make land , plants trees and crops where there are none. We dam rivers, dig canals, create lakes to separate land from the water. We clone, crossbreed and hybridize to create animals and plants that never existed. We resurrect the dead and prolong life by our medical accomplishments. We attempt to know all and be all to all things. Each of us believes, to some extent, what we do is good and right and that some things we do are very good.
God's word is true...we are made in his image and no further proof is needed other than recognition of our tireless efforts to be like him. Therefore, God exists and we are the proof.

We do miracles, as HE said. What they made is " cell like".

I remember a quote that went something like this: "Producing life in the laboratory shouldn't be difficult as long as the lab assistant is attractive and willing".

The OP is bullshit.
There's no "artificial life" involved.
They took life that had already been created, and mixed its pieces in a different way.
Woot.
Communists always tryin ta sell the idea they can create life, and they can't.
And never will.
