It makes perfect sense. I just hadn't seen it in any of my earlier Glocks.

At night sight distance it won't matter anyhow.

It just took Glock five generations to get it right.

I guess I'll leave them on, then, and just get used to aiming a few inches high.

Just buy a Gen 4 rear sight.

“ Remember that the bullseye style 6 o'clock hold, where you aim at some arbitrary spot below where you want your holes to appear, is a leftover from bullseye competition and has no place in tactical applications. If your sights shoot too high, change them. You should ideally have your sights set up to produce a point of impact (POI) that matches your point of aim. We suggest setting up pistols at 25 yards, with the bullet impacts (POI) no more than about 1" high. We like to see the bullet impacting just above the plane of sighting, and never want the POI lower than POA.”

If I had young eyes, I might get the sight picture #3 but I don’t and I prefer sight pic #2. I don’t want the front sight to cover up the target. I can “drive the dot” but I will never settle for a POI to be below the sights.

My favorite was early Gen III ie parkerized slide, smooth finger groves. Sadly that was short-lived affair.

Imagine 1 is called the boomer hold. 😂

As a tightass that hasn't ever bought nite sights for the Gen 2 19,
And ignores the dots, I line up the sights.


So if it's set up to hit POA off the dots,
It's dead nuts on.

In the dark, at close range.



But, now I have to relearn 40 years of shooting to be able
to shoot accurately at longer ranges? Where accuracy is more important?

Been training like that since 1996. Ameriglo Bold sights optional on new Glock models are IMO the pinnacle of combat sights.

Sighting is a to each his own deal. I use image #2 because I shoot longer ranges with my pistol that would not be possible with image #3. It's still a fast option and more precise. If I'm using my night sights, they disappear when I turn on my light to PID the target. Anyone wants to shoot in the dark without Positively IDing the target go ahead but that ain't for me.
