Did you try my method? Start by kissing the lands, etc. In my Tikka the 150 eldx kisses the lands at 2.987.”
I did. I used a powder charge that I determined with a ladder test, and loaded 5 each at 2.845" which is kissing lands, 2.82", 2.80", 2.78". Every group was between 1.5" and 2.25". Some of the groups were 1.75-2" after only 3 shots, so I didn't even bother with the remaining 2 shots. I also loaded a couple groups of 5 with 2 other powders using the best OAL and results were about the same...... Going off memory, but I have good notes at home.

I know this rifle will shoot 140 AB and 140 BT well, so I may just load a bunch of those and play around. I'm ready to stretch the legs on this thing and tired of shooting groups at 100 yards..... I thought about trying the 150 BT as it has a similar profile to the 140 which I know shoots well, but the BC is only 0.008 better.....so what is the point?
On a much brighter note, I did kill a doe back in early Dec. with this rifle at 410 yards with a 120 TTSX which also groups well enough.

Bump to the top.
SO.... if I am giving up on the 150 ELDX, which apparently just won't shoot in my gun, what should I try next? I'm wanting to do some long range plinking (up to 1000 yd, but more likely 600-800), but would like a bullet I can deer hunt with also.
Thoughts?

I killed a buck a few years ago at 541 yards, 140 Partition. 47.5 gr Big Game, WLRM, 2.805” oal (before I started measuring from the ogive), 2880 fps. One shot, exited, double lung.

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

P Yup. I have a load already for the 140 AB with RL15 (provided by previous rifle owner), but it's a little on the slow side. I tried some old 140 AB loads with BG that I had laying around and the speed was great, but the accuracy wasn't what I wanted, but was probably good enough to hunt. I think I'm just gonna start from scratch with the BG. I feel sure I can get where I want to be with a little work.

Thoughts? 150 Scenar 150 LRAB 162 ELD/ELDX
