Have nothing to do with this, may be over priced, not sure, it is out of my round house for values, but on gunbroker, sellers name is tioga chuck, near me in pa so I watch his auctions. All papers and box, i have never been to his shop so just passing info, looks like something you crazy savage guys would think is cool, if not then disregard. Lenny

Hundreds of trapped coyotes & skunks crossed the great divide with the help of a 101...... Then I had an idea and sold it:-(

Had one, same one twice, sold it twice. I don't want it back a third time. Not one of Savage's better ideas IMO. The mass of a revolver without the repeating feature of a revolver. I never did get the concept.

Emphasis on the "cheap". I will say that no Savage collection is complete without one, if the owner of said collection is a dyed in the wool Savage man.

The pistol in the OP has a Chicopee box and a Westfield barrel address. Developed in Chicopee and shipped from Westfield? My understanding is the 101 was shipped ~1960-68. Were there Westfield boxes too? Variations? Did anyone else make anything even close to the 101?? It's not a toy, it's a gun. It's not a revolver, it's a single shot that looks like a revolver. On the lighter side there isn't a gap between the cylinder & barrel.

Advertised in the 1960 catalog as handy for hikers & campers, useful for hunters & fishermen, excellent for trappers, an ideal handgun for beginners, and perfect for family fun.
It was a cheap single shot pistol intended for those who didn't need to win a gunfight, that looked like the western revolvers everybody back then had grown up seeing on their favorite westerns.

Oh, the early catalogs show boxes with Chicopee Falls on them also. Later catalogs don't show the box. So don't know if they always had Chicopee Falls on them (Stevens was still making guns in Chicopee Falls), or only the early ones.

303savage this is not direct at you in any way...
So is it okay to post auctions on this forum as long as it's not a direct link, but just a way to find the link on GB? I recently posted a link to a GB auction with a question about the rifle and people take offense, but no one seems to have an issue here.

When I saw that it was a 101 I didn't even read the thread to be honest with you. It's a public forum and people can do and say what ever they want, but it is generally considered to be bad manners to post a live auction.

No. IMO Apologies if you are interested in this Savage Model 101. I should have posted pics vs. the link. Didn't even notice you posted a link. You’re in the doghouse now. I don’t know that many folks are interested in a $500 101. Here’s the general guidelines we voluntarily abide by, for anybody that’s interested. Post auctions that are finished- cool
Post auctions that are warnings to potential buyers of known issues- cool
Post auctions that have been online for a long time b/c they are way over priced or just junk-cool
Post things on their first listing that ppl here are likely bidding on and don't wnat competition- NOT cool

I went back and repaired it. I didn't notice you had posted a link. This wasn't directed at anyone in particular just trying to sort things out for myself. Honestly I don't agree with the rule about posting auction links, I really don't think the reasoning behind it is valid. However, it apparently existed long before I did on the forum and I will certainly follow it now that I'm aware about it.

There is a lot of extra not needed metal on them. Had a chance to buy one dirt cheap once in Front Royal, VA but passed. I just don’t get a revolver looking single shot.
