Nick Sandmann’s Attorneys Announce Plans to Sue Five More Media Outlets Including ABC and CBS
Following the announcement in January Nick Sandmann’s attorney Todd McMurtry tweeted out that the attorneys for Sandmann will will now focus on NBC, the Washington Post and OTHERS TO BE NAMED! On Friday Sandmann’s attorneys announced their intent to sue five additional media outlets including ABC and CBS. The media can get away with a lot, but in this case they were very clearly irresponsible and it was unquestionable damaging to Nick. Even after they learned their information and narrative was incorrect they didn't retract. I am celebrating this!

Sandmann's lawyers posted a list of about 40 businesses and individuals that they said they might go after. Lots of high profile individuals..... I hope they sue every one of them. Note: Pocahontas and Omar are on the list..... it would be great if he filed suit against them... right about now!

I am delighted to hear this. I have been saying that someone needs to start suing news media outlets about this crap for YEARS. Finally, someone has the balls to actually do it... either Sandmann or his parents or his lawyers.
I have spoken to attorneys and insurance people who are worried about what kind of Pandora's Box the successful CNN lawsuit has opened. The insurance companies who underwrite news outlets don't mind paying out a few tens of thousands here and there, but when you're talking about tens of millions of dollars in awards, and tens of millions of dollars in legal costs, they are going to revise their underwriting policies and their insurance premiums very quickly... and they may even start refusing liability coverage to those corporations.
This is impacting the boardrooms of media conglomerates now. The lying bastards who write and read the news on TeeVee haven't heard it yet, but they know there are rumblings in the back rooms, and they're getting nervous.
This should have happened years ago.
I actually spoke to a guy at the Chamber of Commerce in Ferguson, MO, shortly after the riots there a few years back and asked him if the business owners who lost their properties in the fires/riots had considered suing the local news station and CNN over their coverage of the Michael Brown incident. He said they hadn't even considered such a thing, and said the press couldn't be sued.
I reminded him that the First Amendment does not protect all speech, and the frequently cited example of unprotected speech was a guy falsely yelling, "Fire!" in a crowded theater. What I told him then was, "Look. That is EXACTLY what happened in Ferguson.
"The news team at your local TV station put out the hands-up-don't-shoot story before getting any kind of corroboration from anybody. Their coverage sparked the outbreak of mass violence. CNN picked it up that same day, and the other cable news networks followed suit. The riots stemmed directly from that incredibly false and biased news coverage, and they caused hundreds of millions of dollars in damage. It was ALL because of the news media. OF COURSE you can sue them!!"
His response, "Well, that's interesting, but that's not how we do things in Missouri."
Now Sandmann is showing us ALL how to get the news media to start taking their responsibilities seriously.
