I did some rope-less rock climbing in Northern Michigan as a youth.

Going up was a cinch it was the coming back down that freaked me out...

Nothing.

Always tried to avoid all the exciting, action-packed stuff. No interest in any of it.

As the owners rep I had to be on the barge or it was free salvage. Millions in cargo. I was to go by Zodiac, from the Salvage Chief, through the surf line and try to board the barge for legal purposes and to be there to attach a messenger line and block to eventually attach winch lines. This was 24 hrs after the event and the surf was running stupid high. They took me (the dummy) and a swimmer in, watched for 20 minutes or so, swimmer says, "let's do it". So the boat handler, a master of his trade, timed it just right, we jumped, the swimmer made it in his wetsuit, my life jacket (actually what they call a work vest) caught on the deck/side corner. Receding wave just about tore my arms out of their sockets, adrenaline holding on though, but I lost to the strength of the receding wave. Water temp beyond cold, near paralyzing. Next wave picks me up over the side, rips off the remaining shreds of life jacket, deposits me on the deck. That wave recedes, but I am not washing back into the sea...what the hell? The suspenders back on my HellyHanson bibs caught on a welded cable clip on the deck, probably saving my life...and quick action by the swimmer to cut me loose and help me up higher on the tilted deck. I was so cold, some nasty cuts wouldn't even bleed. Swimmer says later, "Paul, you ever think about doin' movie stunts for a living"?
There is a you tube clip called 'Savior of ships' or something like that, featuring the old Salvage Chief, with a brief glimpse of the barge about 3 minutes in. Days later, we got her off, a lot worse for wear, from big seas and weather, hull stove in, camp units caved in, crane boom trashed. Lloyds of London had to pay.

Lots and lots of close calls in logging, farming, truck driving, construction...

But looking for danger?
How I drove a vehicle (car to semi) from 16 to about 40.
Not freeway fast.
Freeway fast and faster,
On little back roads, many just unlined cowpaths. The twister, tighter,
and faster, the better. Heck, I loved having the Pa Turnpike tunnels
made one lane two direction. In a semi. It was a thrill. Passing other trucks
in the Allegheny tunnel was a hoot. (Highly illegal, probably would have
cost my CDL and job)

Funny, now at 50 years old, I get nervous at 100mph.
Even on the freeway

Dumbass. You win, except for those who got shot at in war. wink

Agree about getting shot at. I had my opportunities to get shot at over my 26 year career, that started in 1972. For whatever reason the ball just didn't bounce my way. I had lots of Marine/Navy aviator friends who died young, flying in combat (Grenada, Iraq) and peacetime. These were guys I came up through the ranks with, went to flight school together, then on to the fleet. Military flying is inherently dangerous, but I did not realize how dangerous until many years after I retired. At the time, losing a friend was considered just part of "the breaks of NavAir."

this may be a little tame for some: went over to a old girlfriend`s about 10pm or 11pm went in the house lights were on ,i was drunk old girlfriend seen me and jack a shell in her shotgun, then pointed shotgun at me and she had been drinking too. she did settle down and we did have a fun night but when she jack that shotgun and pointed at me it did get my attention.i always wonder about that ? i almost forgot i climb poles and towers for 35 years as a lineman in all weather conditions day or night in northern Minnesota for a living.

Marbles, third grade. If you didn't let the big fat kid win he would beat the crap out of you.

Oh, yeah, and I drank some water in Mexico once.

Quite a bit. But the worst was probably suiting up in a wet suit, ski belt and life jacket and jump off about a 40 foot cliff into a canyon of Class IV rapids, a white frothing mess about 100 feet deep for about 200 yards long. There were 4 of us one guy just about didn't make it had to pull him to shore. Couple weeks later someone drown trying the same stunt at the same spot.
