I've really been enjoying this Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel with the exception that I absolutely hate the plastic detachable mag. Replaced it today with this hinged aluminum unit from Oregunsmithing. Very happy with this. Before: After

Nice. That's on my to buy list this year. There is also another company called Jefferson Outdoor selling a flush bottom metal as well. Good to see the aftermarket support for the Howa Mini. Now if we can get an ultra lightweight stock from MPI, McMillan, etc.

Feeds perfect and smooth with 3 down. I think it's supposed to be 4 down, but it's very tight and jerky it you try to feed with 4 down. The internal magazine is actually secondary to me, I'd shoot it single shot if I needed to in order to rid it of the clunky bottom metal that hangs down from the stock. As it is, I'm very happy with 3 down. Honestly, I'd be very happy with a non hinged version similar to an old remington 722 set up.

That looks like a huge improvement in both aesthetics and functionality.
I'm not a fan of magazines that hang below the bottom of the stock on any sporting rifle, so I've been thinking about a Mini Mauser reworked for the Grendel, but this will be an option as soon as there are after-market stocks available. I have a severe gag reflex whenever I hold a Howa with a Hogue stock.

Dream come true!
Legacy missed the boat on this one, and they certainly knew people want it; I've told them at least three times myself.
What fresh Hell is this?

Huge improvement.... are just the barreled action still available if so cost? Are there currently any "good quality" stocks currently available?
Please don't feed the trolls!

I'm fixin' to list a .223 with lightweight barrel as soon as the Image Gallery is back up and runnin'. I'll throw the stock in free.

Why the factory doesn't offer standard bottom metal is beyond me. Seems like everything has to have a hint of tacti-cool these days. Offer it both ways if they must.
