I have a little bit of family in Las Vegas (including my son).

I was just talking to my sister about their local impacts. My twin 16 year old nephews will be laid off from their part time gig at the Las Vegas Aviators (AAA Oakland A's) stadium.

Most of the casinos are under 10% occupancy, with some under 5% occupancy, and shutting down most services.

Literally, the city is a ghost town. My sister and brother in law are in real estate. Already thinking of the future. She just told me, "it is happening so fast people are still wrapping their heads around it even as it accelerates"

They pointed to @LasVegasLocally on Twitter. Many copies of various casino press releases laying off staff, and other disconcerting news there. Sad, the impact to working families.

Dammn............

This whole thing is a pretty crazy. I’m constantly reminded of Neville Shute’s book, On the Beach.

A buddy just got back from the ConExpo.

I will have to ask him how it compared to two years ago.

I would think the oxygen mask, smoker gambler crowd would be corona proof.

Air straight out the bottle.

Damn. You should get good rates.

I was supposed to be in Las Vegas (next week), San Antonio (4 weeks from now), Long Beach (June), and Atlanta (July). All canceled in the last 5 days. And now I am remote until further notice.

I suppose it could happen. Just flew out of there this afternoon. There was a lot of grumbling about tournaments and concerts canceled. MGM group has shut down all of their buffets effective this weekend. Restaurants on and off the strip seemed busy enough, but no long lines to get in. There was only one semi nice day this week. Cool and rainy/ showers. I thought that suppressed activity a bit.
Lots of handwashing and sanitizer at ConExpo and at most places in general. Common consensus on the flu thing was hyped up over-reaction tho.

I have family there and even *I* am not a fan of the place. I stay away at all costs.

But, there are SO many kids and families caught in the cross-hairs. And, info I have from my local family is DIRE.

My boss was there. We work for a Cat dealer. He said it was as busy as ever other than Volvo pulled out of the show at the last minute, leaving a rather conspicuous empty space in the middle of the Convention Center.

Great; now who's going to pay the light bill?

my company has an event with customers in Vegas in June. Its small by Vegas standards - 4800 people

We're committed to the event due to contracts so we may be paying for rooms and space regardless.

I received an email yesterday saying they are looking at ways to have people attend the keynote addresses and meetings remotely

Got a notice from the cruise line that all cruises are suspended for 60 days
