Was in a gun store tdy and I know the owner well. He sold $35,000 of guns and ammo last Fri, to one person. Hmmm...I might could be friends with that person.

In my humble opinion, just like people that run out to by snowblowers JUST before a blizzard, or generators JUST before a hurricane, people that never owned guns before are buying guns (mostly mossberg maverick 88s/500s/590s and remmy 870s). Those of us that know better have snowblowers, generators and firearms, even when there isn't a perceived threat.
My prediction is that there will be a hell of a lot of fairly new, used shotguns on the market by the end of the year. That is if we don't all croak from the corona virus.
Toilet paper anybody? :-)

Not sure, i'll ask Kevin (manager mentioned in OP article) tomorrow, and will let you know. I bought my 1st gun safe at AO over 20years ago. That was a good shop. I worked with Danny, the guy that owned the archery part of that store. Small world.

MM Yep They did the same thing right after 9/1/1 I worked in the Firearms Wholesale Industry back then. No telling how many shotguns were shipped to NY State in the following year!

MM Unfortunately elections are won in the cities. A lot of good folks in NY that did all they can to win the fight. Don't worry it is headed our way too. Not to mention that we have a bunch of so called hunters and 2A guys that are already doing all they can to help the left.

Gonna be funny when all the first time gun buyers find out how easy it is to buy a gun in New York. If you are not trying to buy a handgun, it's just as easy as it is in MO. The stores in the story are on Long Island, Not NYC proper. Side note - I know a lot of hunters and shooters from LI. Far as I know there's only 3 ways to get from LI to upstate where most of them hunt. Either through NYC, New Jersey, or swim. When I've asked a few how they got their guns from home to camp, they just smile and say something like well, I didn't get wet. 
They say everything happens for a reason.
For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.
