First one of the year - 17 HMR at 100 yds, one shot and flop, sure do like the 17 HMR for gophers.
223 Rem, my favorite cartridge - you can't argue with truckloads of dead PD's and gophers.

Unless this year is an abnormal year in a couple of weeks the shots will be in the hundreds per day rather than just a few. I sure do wish that they were up stayed above ground for a few more months, about now until middle July is all we have for shooting and you can bet that I will make the most of it.

We've been shooting a few for over a month now. Went out wednesday for a couple hours and fsaw a bunch. My buddy shot several with his 10'22. I shot one with my .44 special and gave one some air time with my .223, 50 gr, v-max. It was a cool, overcast, breezy afternoon. If it had been a nice day we probably would have seen more. We saw enough though to make it interesting and fun.
