Anyone that thinks people are great need to go work retail for 6 weeks, they'll change their minds in a hurry.

We've been paying the folks who help us with chores (cleaning ladies, dog walker when we're at work, etc.) even though they aren't allowed to be working. We've also been getting takeout from the local restaurants that are still open for takeout and leaving ridiculous tips (like leaving $100 for a $15 pizza) as much as we can. I hate socialism and don't want the government to do the charitable stuff I should be doing with the people who work for me or provide services that I use.

Things I am doing to help? Social distancing, inventorying my ammo and stores, making sure all my rifles are scoped and sighted in. Bought a generator, lots of fuel and a transfer switch (gonna try to electrocute myself this weekend by installing it). Keeping my powder dry....

I received an email from Harbor Freight. They are donating their inventory of N95 masks, Face Shields and nitrile gloves to hospitals and emergency rooms around the country. If you know a hospital or emergency room that needs this equipment have them email hospitalhelpharboefreight.com. I think this is a good thing. The stuff is made in China so hope it's not contaminated.

Wife and I have been working from home, for starters. Taking walks and drives to get out of the house but only really venturing into stores to shop for necessities. Just trying to help not spread any virus.

We live at the end of a cul-de-sac and have run a few errands for the mostly elderly in our neighborhood. We've made it clear they can call on us any time. Supporting a few local breweries by purchasing growlers curb-side and twice a week order take-out from a local restaurant (not a chain).

We are going to be making a large food donation to the Loveland food kitchen this weekend.

Tomorrow will be day 14 of mostly staying on our property or in our house for me. I have a couple of those auto-immune issues they keep warning about, so my bride has made a couple trips to the market. Did break out Tuesday and went to the shooting range with a buddy for a couple of hours - I swear, we did NOT come in contact with anyone else, no one else was there. Other than checking in on friends and neighbors to see if they need anything, I guess we haven't "done" anything, we are in a neighborhood of old farts like us and upper young professionals and not aware of anyone having lost their job or other financial stress. We will do what we can and are able, though.

Best I can offer is that I went and visited my American neighbor who just happened to be born in Germany. Left there in the 50's and has never returned. Is as good an American as I've met.

Bartered a couple of dozen eggs from the hen house with him for a few of those little green printed .gov issued pieces of paper. And he threw in a package of sausage from his kids' and grandkids' pigs. And an empty egg carton.

Heym, thanks for the reminder of paying someone's mortgage. Don't know anyone in that situation, but I have an old friend down south that probably could use having a break from the rent for a month. I'll have to contact his landlord to see if he's still there, want it to be a surprise.
