If you go "up north" in Michigan and are still south of the bridge (the only one that matters) - you're really not Michigan, you're Ohio-North.
Disagree. Up North starts in West Branch...always has always will.
Some of the most remote country in the state lies between Cheboygan and Alpena IMHO. There is nothing down there north of Gaylord LOL...pretty frickin rural
people forget the big towns up here...marquette, the soo, the entire escanaba corridor. Hate em all LOL
The nicest places in the state are Rogers City and Houghton. Prettiest would be Bliss IMHO
The GOP controls both houses. The governor is somewhere between worthless and useless. She is the worst governor I have seen in any state.
The northern part of the state is truly a paradise. Anything north of Grayling is awesome. The SE portion has some good people but Wayne County is largely garbage.
"...aspire to live quietly, and to mind your own affairs, and to work with your hands, as we instructed you, so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one." - Paul to the church in Thessalonica.
With our worthless governor, this is what the good people of Michigan have to understand pronto.

Sorry...i love Northern Mi.
"Up North" used to start at Standish. Then it was West Branch...until they built the outlet mall. Then it was Grayling. Now it is sorta Gaylord. Yet, my BP drops a whole lot when I cross the bridge. The big towns up there don't bother me since they have decent hospitals and other needs. As you get older, those things become more important. Traverse City is a schithole.

I live just 4-5 miles from Bliss. Really pretty area.
Anything north of US-10 is pretty much up north for me. I lived for a few years in the TC area and Escanaba area too. Beautiful drive on US-2 from the Bridge to Manistique. 28 is nice too from Newberry to Marquette. M109 north out of Harbor Springs might be the most scenic trip ever in the fall. There are others for sure, like Lake of the Clouds up in the Porkies. Michigan is one of the most beautiful states to see. Even Detroilet has the spring walleye run.
