Rifle is a repro Ballard #4 Perfection with upgraded French walnut in 45-70 from Ballard when they were in Cody, WY. Sights are MVA midrange tang rear and copper penny blade up front. Spent half a day stalking that buck trying to get from 1/2 mile to 150 yards. Held the front blade on his spine and lobbed it in - he went 50-60 yards and tipped over. Load is Swiss 1.5 blackpowder and a 540 grain 30:1 cast lead bullet from a custom Steve Brooks mold. Most memorable hunt of my life...
