When I was at Fairhaven college in 1971-1972 most students listened to Led Zeppelin. But the students who were the best musicians listened to John Prine.
There is nothing noble in being superior to your fellow man; true nobility is being superior to your former self. -Ernest Hemingway The man who makes no mistakes does not usually make anything.-- Edward John Phelps
Sorry to here that, he's has always been a favorite of ours. The wife and I saw him and Iris DeMint a couple of years ago and he was still sounding great
Hope John pulls through this. A gifted musician for sure. I really enjoy his music. Man with a big heart. I never had the opportunity to go to one of his live performances.
"When I die let my ashes float down the Green River Let my soul roll on up to the Rochester dam I'll be halfway to Heaven with Paradise waitin' Just five miles away from wherever I am"
I hope and pray it isn't his time yet, loved some of his songs.
'Four legs good, two legs baaaad." ---------------------------------------------- "Jimmy, some of it's magic, Some of it's tragic, But I had a good life all the way." (Jimmy Buffett)

"Woke up this morning, Put on my slippers, Walked in the kitchen and DIED. And oh what a feeling when my soul went thru the ceiling And on up on into Heaven I did rise."
Or:
"While out sailing on the ocean, While out sailing on the sea. I bumped into the savior and he said 'Pardon Me".
I said 'Jesus you look tired' And he said 'Jesus...so do you'. 'Won't you sit down son cause I got some fat to chew'.
Or:
"And you may see me today With an illegal smile It don't cost very much But it lasts a long while. "
Saw him several times in the 70s. He's an icon. God bless him please.
Colossians 3:17 (New King James Version) "And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him."
But when he goes, if this is his wish, I hope it's granted. (First song of his I learned to sing around a campfire. .....We were straight )

The desert is a true treasure for him who seeks refuge from men and the evil of men. In it is contentment In it is death and all you seek (Quoted from "The Bleeding of the Stone" Ibrahim Al-Koni)

Good lines all, but the ones that really hit me were a little different...
The olfactory reference in Paradise hauled me right there... "Well, sometimes we'd travel right down the Green River To the abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill Where the air smelled like snakes and we'd shoot with our pistols But empty pop bottles was all we would kill"
The incredible power in Sam Stone shook me at a critical time...
There was nothing to be done, But trade his house that he bought on the GI bill, For a flag-draped casket on a local hero's hill. There's a hole in daddy's arm where all the money goes,
And then there was the story of Prine and Kristoferson finding some guy singing in a Chicago bar and bringing him in... and Steve Goodman had his start.
Mark Begich, Joaquin Jackson, and Heller resistance... Three huge reasons to worry about the NRA.
I know a guy that's got a lot to lose. He's a pretty nice fellow but he's kind of confused. He's got muscles in his head that ain't never been used. Thinks he own half of this town.
Starts drinking heavy, gets a big red nose. Beats his old lady with a rubber hose, Then he takes her out to dinner and buys her new clothes. That's the way that the world goes 'round.
That's the way that the world goes 'round. You're up one day and the next you're down. It's half an inch of water and you think you're gonna drown. That's the way that the world goes 'round.
I was sitting in the bathtub counting my toes, When the radiator broke, water all froze. I got stuck in the ice without my clothes, Naked as the eyes of a clown. I was crying ice cubes hoping I'd croak, When the sun come through the window, the ice all broke. I stood up and laughed thought it was a joke That's the way that the world goes 'round.
