Get a tube of Loctite super glue, loctite because the tips never get plugged up or stuck, and keep that glued together and it won't bleed or get snagged on boogers !

Looks like you have real med supplies, at the mag house it would have been paper towel and electrical tape. Sterile gauze pad and medical tape. No way am i breaking into the emergency azz paper!

You know whats an odd sensation? Cutting right through your finger nail with a kitchen knife. Its gonna hurt later I bet. Actually glad the nail slowed the knife down a bit. Just recently I did darn near the same thing, just missed the corner of my thumbnail. Used a bandaid for a couple of days then used that liquid NewSkin, put a couple of coats on it every day for a few days - healed right up. Won't hold skin together at first that why it works better after 2-3 days. That bandage you used will work just fine for a few days.
If you have it Neosporin ointment (generic-Triple ABX) to the cut with dressing changes. NewSkin has antibacterial properties so won't need additional ABX to cut.

Old plumber trick is to pour some PVC primer onto it to sanitize the wound, then seal it with PVC glue.
Trust me. I'm an old plumber. 😉

I've done the twin of maneuver. You've got your chef zen on, just nailing those pretty slices and …….. oooooh-ya! It is an odd sensation all right kind of feels like you're pointer is done for at first. Actually I've done it more than once FFS  The old saying you don't get cut with a sharp knife. Until you do and then its a gooder.
