The 870 came out in 1950 to replace the Model 31, it was much cheaper to make. Never owned one, but I do own a 1948 31 TG, which many consider one of the nicest pump shotguns made

I think mine might hit 50 this fall. I can't be sure, but it's not far from that if not.

My old 20ga 870 Wingmaster LW is 41 years old at least ... that’s how long I’ve had it.
I keep meaning to take it hunting again ...

That’s a nice stock. I said stock. The 870 came out in 1950 to replace the Model 31, it was much cheaper to make. Never owned one, but I do own a 1948 31 TG, which many consider one of the nicest pump shotguns made

I picked up a strange one today at my local gun store. It is Looks like a Factory Police Riot Gun, but marked Wing Master and has an 18 inch barrel with improved cylinder but has a plain stock & forend. Except the barrel and receiver are bright blue. Not matte black like all the Factory Police Guns I’ve ever seen. The date code dates it to be a 1981 model. Came from an estate the store is selling for a local family. Appears to be un-fired. Of course, I just couldn’t resist. Stole it for $400 out the door!
Anybody ever see one like this ???
