Can't see the article without signing up, screw the NYT.

Anyway, how do you get the virus driving? window down, head out, tongue flapping?

The common denominator is people, not driving, your vehicle is as safe as your house, unless infected folks are secretly getting in and touching all over it.

Some of this chit is ridiculous.

Wow! It looks like those orders really work in slowing the progression of the pandemic. Unless this is a case of manipulating statistics.

Well, it is the NYT, so what do you expect?

They rather arbitrarily chose 2 miles as the cut-off for travel. Most of those southern counties highlighted in red are rural. Ya know, where even the nearest grocery store may be well beyond that distance.

And, lets just ignore the fact that the hotspots currently in the South are urban centers like Miami and New Orleans.

The technology exists now to read license plates automatically at tolls and other places. Wouldn't be a stretch to put them on overpasses, bridges and other natural bottlenecks to gather data on who is traveling where. Scary.

Cops drive around with license plate scanners turned on 100% of the time too.

Is this one of their tools to quickly identify stolen cars and fugitives?

I know they cruise truck stops and parking lots looking for outstanding warrants.

So, exactly how will you get the virus driving in your car?
