Who would have thunk it. It looks like Ivermectin kills this scheit. grin Everyone run down to the CO-OP.

Australian researchers have published a study showing a drug commonly used to treat parasite infections can also kill coronavirus in a laboratory setting in under 48 hours.

Researchers at Monash University in Melbourne, Australia have discovered that the antiparasitic drug Ivermectin can inhibit replication of SARS-CoV-2, the virus the causes COVID-19, according to a study published Friday in the journal Antiviral Research.

Ivermectin is commonly used to treat heartworm in dogs, in combination with doxycycline.

In fact, it is the basic ingredient in a number of heartworm prevention medicines (in lower doses) for both cats and dogs.

I might be thinking of another common livestock drug.

We used to squirt a 1/2 cc down the throats of our dogs all summer to keep them from getting heartworms when the mosquitoes were out.

I would guess my blood level concentration of ivermectin is as high as any human in our county...

I can't give Ivermectin any credit for the mosquitoes avoiding me, as they always have. I rarely get bit by them.

I hope so given that I've inadvertently soaked in more than enough of that chit over the years!

It will indeed kill certain breeds of dogs(I think).

Added...

A class of drugs commonly used in veterinary medicine include ivermectin, milbemycin, and moxidectin; these are anthelmintics (these drugs kill parasites) and are commonly used as an active ingredient for monthly heartworm preventatives. Certain breeds of dogs (e.g., collies, Border collies, Australian shepherds, Old English sheepdogs, etc.) with a multidrug resistant (MDR) gene mutation are extremely sensitive to this class of drugs.

Bought 25 liters of Ivermax a couple weeks ago when I panic pre-bought a butt load of cattle vaccine.

Cydectin is actually quite a bit more $$$ than Ivermectin.
