Why was the racoon wearing your pajamas?

Seriously. Sitting down at my covid work from home station, in my morning wear. I get up to pee, look in the back yard and a 3-legged, tailless racoon is ambling from the house.

Pop, pop, pop. One dead trash panda.

The Coon Formerly Known as Lucky!

I'd give that one a 9.5 Art grin

I surprised a red squirrel while siting out on the porch watching the bird feeder yesterday. Little red didn't notice me until he was right in front of me. He kicked in the turbo charger and made it to a tree across the driveway in record time.... that part was entertaining.

It stopped being funny when he spent the next 5 minutes siting on a limb giving me the stink eye and scolding pretty much non stop. For some reason NC considers red squirrels as game animals.... There is a limit just how far he can push my law abiding nature though....

No, no.It's what was the raccoon doing in yoyr pajamas. Leaves more for the "fertile" imagination.

Keep that up.
Magpies are the most destructive of creatures when it comes to nesting songbirds and gamebirds on earth.
I must advise this though - many years ago on this forum I caught heck from a few unknowing know it alls that I should be imprisoned as shooting Magpies was illegal.
I hope the majority of CampFirers are NOW aware of the horrible harm Magpies do - my policy/motto "keep the Magpies numbers down to a minimum".
Thanks for your efforts.

AMEN to this. Whatever role magpies play in nature ain't worth the damage they do. Last fall I had the elk I killed in the bed of my truck and went into the house to get the butchering knives. By the time I came back out (maybe 5 minutes at most) there was a swarm of mapgies all over that elk. Filthy fuggin animals with a working brain. I didn't know it was illegal to shoot them, though. Lock me up...

Check your local regs Remsen. Some places it's OK to kill them if they are damaging stuff.

No need to make a bunch of noise if you have to take a few out.

One of our dogs does a good job of keeping them out of our immediate yard area, chases them off the bird feeder. Picked up that habit himself, no training necessary. Getting ready to set up his pool, he hates them drinking from that too.

Did you have to use peanut butter to lure him into your PJ's?

Looks like raccooon season ended March 15 in Oregon. Probably not a good idea to be talking about it on the campfire right now. Or is poaching OK now due to the covid ?

I guess it's OK to poach certain critters but not others. Are hawks, owls and eagles on the OK list now ? Those fuggers do a lot of damage to small game and bird populations.

He wasn’t hunting. He dispatched a tailless three-legged, likely rabid, raccoon.

What makes you think it was rabid ? I couldn't count the number of coons I've shot during daylight hours. So is it OK for me to shoot deer out in my yard now too ? That wouldn't be hunting either now would it ? Given the amount of damage they've done to my apple trees wouldn't that just be pest control ?

Don’t be a retard.

If you want to fight, it’s gonna have to be about something more stimulating than this.

I'm not being a retard at all. You shoot an animal out of season without some kind of special permit it's poaching period. But I do get the stinking rotten hypocrisy of the majority of members here. If it's got antlers/trophy value it's not ok to shoot out of season under any circustances and if you do you aught to be heavily fined and/or go to jail. If it holds no interest for trophy hunters, it's A-OK. What a fu.ckin bunch of slobs.

Just let Blackheart troll - but don’t bite. That’s what he’s after. Ignore him and post around him.
