Idunno, I just want a puppy.
The broad is claiming they are from the same sire as the "Pink" dog that was in that 2020 Westminster video posted here.
None of that means anything to me, I wanna dog, I don't care if he lays around drinking beer and smoking cigarettes.

Is there something more I should know? I'll likely be seeing them this afternoon.

We've had several Border Collies as country pets, and now have two female Australian Shepherds. The Aussies are smart and active, but much more mellow and affectionate than the Borders. Our Aussies will snuggle with you on the couch or take a nap in your lap. Our BC was good for a few pets and scratches, then it was back to work.
Look for dogs raised in a country family setting with lots of playtime with children. I think adopting the pup at about 10 weeks is better than at 8 weeks, they learn at lot a dog socialization manners from their mom and siblings during that period. Be leery of breeders that want to shove the pups out the door at 6 or 7 weeks.

I got a puppy but not one of the ones I posted photos of. Just picked him up last weekend.

He's 16 weeks old, some folks that never had a Border Collie had bought him from a Horse Rancher / Dog Breeder type in Williston Florida.

They didn't know what they were getting in for and it appears they have not treated this dog very well.
They were desperate to get rid of it after having it 12 days.

I got him for 500 bucks, he was shaking like a leaf and afraid of his own shadow. The lady that had him claimed he didn't mix well with her other dog, she walked into the house to get his paper work and the dog took to me as soon as she was out of sight. She came back out and the dog freaked out.

Being he was a little fu_cked up and cheap, I figured we'd be a good match.

First 24 hours was ify, but now he has turned completely around, he's full of life and happy as hell.

Been out raising hell all morning, he's becoming 100% Border Collie in all actions.

Once he gets all tuckered out he seems to enjoy laying in my bed chewing on steak bones while watching old Lassie reruns on YouTube.
Also seems to prefer 28 day aged ribeyes over puppy chow... pics later....

Sounds like a good match. They can be a bit "hyper sensitive" , but that doesn't make them bad dogs. I would get him out around people, kids, and other dogs as much as possible while he is young, but that's probably a tall order with the rona chit going on. My current BC loves going to ranch supply store, he always gets pets and a milk bone out of the deal so he looks forward to the trips. He also know exactly where the dog toy isle is laugh .

There isn't the light needed for a pic in here, I'll get him outside and get some pics later.

He's a tri color, black and white with blue spots on his front legs, blue ears and grey eyes.

I took him to Rural King yesterday to get all the crap dogs gotta have. Didn't want to leave him in the truck but didn't know how he'd do on a leash with all the distraction, he can go nervous fast when spooked. I tossed him in the cart and he thought he was royalty, really enjoyed himself on 6 long isles of dog related stuff.....

Lot's of people out and about here. I take him to the local boat ramps for a walk twice a day, we do both ramps that are near by.
He's a chick magnet, get's a lot of attention. First "other dog" encounter came about a little while ago today. It was a Siberian Husky, they were both unleashed. It went well, they ran around for about 45 minutes doing what hyper dogs do.

He has come so far around just since Saturday it's amazing. I have friends coming in the morning that are staying for a few days, they have two dogs so he'll get some more interaction.....

Well that went soso, took him out on my dock this morning, all was well until I broke out the camera.
He thought it was an alligator, spooked him pretty good, made getting a pic difficult.

Back at the house he decided he'd jump off the deck, about a 7 foot drop.
Didn't act as if it bothered him a bit, I'll have to teach him not to do that..

Are all border collies deathly afraid of storms, wind and thunder? Ours know when whether is coming hours before we do based on how she acts. In that case, the shower curtain is going to get it as she tears into it like a Tasmanian devil.

Also to add, you better not get on a 4-wheeler around her. She bites tires and has no fear of getting run over. We've tried shock collars and it makes no difference.

Mine chases anything with wheels, if Im the one driving it, including pulling the trashcan out to the road. I think she's trying to "protect" me, but its about the only annoying habit she has.

Strange things can scare border collies, if you have to be slow and patient introducing them to new things and environments ....... sometimes. I quit trying to figure it out and just watch the dogs reaction. Just don't force it, my old border collie hated boat docks and the boat but loved car rides and playing in water . Sometimes it makes no sense to us.
