Just FWIW. I try to buy made in the USA when I can. The list is neither complete nor perfect, but it's a good start.

It all sounds good on paper, but small businesses (say a hiking store, for example) still needs to thrive, regardless of where the good come from.

The hope being that there’s an attrition to our own stuff.

I have tried for years to buy “Made in the USA”. Not always possible, but at least I try! I will do without before I will buy from China henceforth!

Many New Balance shoes are made in the USA or UK. Not a perfect scenario, but it's not China.

...how many of you walk in chinese shoes.....I don't have, have never had and hopefully will never have a pair.

Unfortunately it isn't just the Chinese to blame for our situation... Companies want to make the greatest profit possible, unions price their workers out of the market and business has to go elsewhere.

Walmart demanded lower and lower prices and the only way some companies could deliver was going to overseas labor markets... I had already cut back my shopping at WM/SAM's from 95% of my shopping to 30%...after it was announced last fall they have partnered with Bloomberg and giving millions to his gun control program I am down to 0% and will shop there only in an emergency or someone gives me a gift card. You guys still shopping at WM...

I label shop everything I buy and have for decades...but there are just some things that are made in china and nowhere else...

Bob

Get your boots in TEXAS.

Assembled in the USA......

Made in the USA can be a deceptive term at times.

Example:

Newer mossberg shotguns
Receiver marked
Made in USA
north haven ct

Barrels marked
Eagle pass tx

Barrels are made in mexico
Trucked across border for assembly in Tx now.

I don’t have a problem with free trade with a fair partner. Its the one side BS with an enemy that bothers me.

Bingo.

Also Bingo on the comment about much of the blame belonging to U.S. companies, as well as our beloved government's regulatory rats-nest . Long ago I noticed that prices for clothing made here and overseas were similar, but the foreign stuff was no doubt more profitable to the sellers. Profits are good, but recent events should demonstrate that a healthy domestic manufacturing base for all types of goods is a strategic necessity. For some things, it's crucial.

And, U.S. companies that brag on Made in U.S.A. need to be sure their stuff is up to snuff, especially if it costs more.

Thanks, Paul.

If we can’t buy what is made in the USA maybe we can try to buy what is built here in the USA, e.g. vehicles, etc. anything that requires USA labor.

Having said that I guess one could point out Amazon Wharehouses with USA labor moving Chinese made goods .

Aarrrrggghhh !
