Grandmum made it every now and again after frying chicken. She fried her chicken in Lard. Usually the next day though to go over pork chops and taters. There always seems to be a pan of fat in the oven waiting to make gravies when my Grandad was alive. After he passed not so much. I remember her contemplating after he passed, stroke, that she blamed herself for making him to many fatty cholesterol laden foods their whole marriage.

Mom made that after every batch of fried chicken. We put it over mashed taters. Back when I fried a lot of chicken I'd add some onions and stir them around awhile before adding the water.
