I remember that, I’m recalling the driver was a private school Admin who subsequently lost heavily, for leaving the scene. Fuggin cyclist willfully blocking the whole lane, on the Natchez Trace Parkway yet.

Cars are the apex predator in a transportation system where menace and aggression are literally built into the grills.

:gin:

Surprisingly low body count with this race apparently or else Mr Spandex-shorts-in-a-twist surely woulda mentioned one.

Imagine having beers with the guy that wrote that article. LOL

What a clam.

Sitting around with guys in sweaty spandex crotch pad shorts, no thanks.

Back in 1971, I did a coast to coast run. Jax to LA. 1959 VW. My first ex wife as navigator. Took a lot of beer, a lot of buds, a brick on the gas pedal, and the bug stretched out at 72 mph. Took a week. Maybe more. Parts seem to be missing from my memory. 😜

I'm too "mature" to have anything but disdain and disgust for anybody who'd try that. If it were up to me, I'd spike strip them. Let their buddies pick their remains out of the ball of smoking metal.
