The reverse mortgage thing is less of a big deal than it's made out to be. It's a product like any other and if you choose to sell them your house then do it. If not don't.

Its just like annuities. Sometimes its a perfect fit and sometimes it's a very bad idea. But people here who know nothing about them spend their time posting inaccurate info trying to be clever.

If someone is taking advantage of an elderly person they are a [bleep]. But it's not Tom selleck's job to meet with every client.

He could just be invested in the company. I've heard reverse mortgages aren't a good idea for most cases, but I don't know enough to know if that's true.

For some retirees who need money and want to stay in their home, reverse mortgage can be a dream. Fred Thompson used to advertise them. Some heirs may not like the idea, but it's the parents money to do as they wish, and they should take care of themselves first. A decent retirement home is 5-10k/month and a reverse mortgage is a great deal compared to that if it let's them stay in the home longer.

If your nest egg runs out, you gotta do what ya gotta do. SS isnt a ton of $$, might as well utilize what you got and keep on living.

I don’t know of anyone who’s parent (s) has taken one these reverse mortgages . I wonder what the terms are and what expenses are involved in them ?

Most people would be better off NOT doing the reverse mortgage. But like any other contract, if it fits your situation then maybe it's an option.

Just nice for people who don't know a thing about it to call names and try to sound superior.

In general...most buy your house back from you at X dollars a month until the amount you agreed upon is paid. Then they own the home and depending on the contract you either live there for free until going into a nursing home or dying. Or you rent it from them for a small amount until one of those things happens.

Like i said...only if it fits your situation. Otherwise its a horrible idea.

Selleck isn't selling a scam. If it was always bad Like genius boy add says...then how would it be legal and how would it be an accepted product

Before changing industries, I was a licensed financial planner with a lot of classes and studying behind me. So at least I cared enough to educate myself on something my clients asked advice about. Unlike name caller boy there.
