Headed to Louisiana to a gentleman and his two sons. They were cut from the same billet of Damascus and the handles from the same slab of desert ironwood to preserve continuity. Damascus full tang knives are the devil to make correctly, as you have to attach the handle, grind and finish everything to shape and then remove the handles so the blade can be properly etched. Reassemble and then complete all the finish work. That way, the tang of the knife shows the layers of steel in the same manner the blade does. I feel its worth the extra effort. Thanks for looking!

Afternoon Godogs, as usual WOW. Very nice!!! Never thought about the etching thing, makes sense though. Never used Damascus know next to nothing about working it. Do others not do it the way you do? Extra time but hell now that I know I wouldn't except it any other way. You do amazing work, your grinds are well defined & all your knives have nice flowing lines, unlike others I've seen. Thanks for the eye candy. Bill out. 🐾👣🐾👣🇨🇦

Is there any advantage to damascus? The “cool factor” and the inherent beauty of the blades is what makes folks like Damascus blades. Being a blend of carbon steels, the carbon steel vs stainless steel argument will come into play. Stainless steel edges generally (generally being a broad assumption) last longer, but are harder to sharpen. Carbon steels will rust to a greater degree than stainless. It’s a Ford, Chevy type argument....it’s whatever makes your propeller spin and suits your needs.

Thanks for the reply.
