Do you know where that blank came from (where the tree was harvested)? Normally, you only see that kind of fiddleback in California Claro walnut but for some reason that kind of looks like a American walnut.

Not Claro, Juglans Nigra, from MO. I do not care for Claro or Turkish. I use French Walnut or English Walnut or American Walnut . The Fiddleback is the reason it is Exhibition Grade. It is an older blank I have had for quite some time. It is kiln dried and ready to turn. Try to find a blank of this caliber. ( heh heh)

Most don't understand how rare it is to find that kind of color, contast, and fiddle in true American walnut. That blank is a steal at that price.

Thank you, Offshoreman, I have had a lot of blanks for rifle projects over the years. I still have a bunch. Some are ear-marked for projects. This is the only one for sale , as I have several near this grade. I think the price for this quality is very fair. Best, Chuck

Beautiful piece, AND had me thinking...I had a big walnut go down at one of my timber properties...I'm going to go get it out of there and take it to a sawmill and see what it looks like...

If I may add, if anyone is looking for a beautiful blank with ideal grain layout for a heavy recoil caliber, this is about is good looking as you'll find for a 375, 416, etc.

Good Morning All, Lotsa lookers. I don't think anyone would find this blank disappointing. I have had ( and still have) a good number of above average blanks turned into excellent rifle stocks. This American Black Walnut Blank is most likely one of the best I have seen . My pix don't do it justice. One may wonder why I Don't use it my own self..... The answer is , I have a couple more and projects under way. Best, Chuck

A few fellas sitting on the fence. Take a look at the" Custom Shop" in Montana wood blanks. pretty high prices, I wouldn't use one , too much $$$$$ and they just don't appeal to me.
