Our New Mexico elk hunt has been cancelled per a phone call today because of the covid scare in the county. 3768 square miles of nothing but three small towns and wilderness. They have only five covid cases but are scared it might get worse by October.

Shaking my head. We’ve lost 94 people in my small county with over 2300 hospitalized and are already recovering.

At least they are offering my deposit back. I have a friend that had a San Carlos turkey hunt that was cancelled....they kept his money.

Sorry to hear your hunt was canceled. I simply do not understand all the fear. Fear can't stop you from dying from COVID-19 but fear of COVID-19 can stop you from living. Without a doubt, our fear-based response to COVID-19 has crippled our economy. Moreover, it is my belief the worst is yet to come as thousands of small businesses across the country go belly-up.

NM is one of those states with an idiot governor.

Do you have the option of using the tag on public land? Guess not if it’s a private land voucher. Hopefully I am still headed to NM in September.

I have Pronghorn hunt on Vermejo this August. My elk hunt was on a ranch in Angel Fire. I pointed out that Vermejo, along with other ranches, are full speed ahead. Maybe the ranch will change their mind between now and October...still plenty of time.

Philmont hunts are on as far as I know. I've hunted elk there the last three years but was unsuccessful in the 2020 fall elk drawing.

Too bad, that’s a good place with some real nice bulls. Glad they did the right thing.

You don't understand . They don't have it and They don't want you as an outsider to bring it to them. I don't blame them.

Thats too bad. Angel Fire is a great area. I hunted on the CS up behind the airport for about 10 years. Miss hunting there.

It’s a ranch owned by a tribe not the actual Rez. And it’s not til Oct. seems a little premature to me.

The frickin Navajos have it the worst here, not like the evil white eyes are bringing The green death.

What a crock of cowardly bs.

I’m not much for causing a stir, but I think I’d be getting my deposit back.

Just like Washington, the state of NM is full of idiots (democrat libtards) who ELECT such a governor. Anything tribal most likely dimocrap, too.
