The only issue I have found driving long bed extended cab Fords has been parking lots and parking garages. Pulling through or backing into a spot is fine. Driving into one nose first needs some planning and might take a couple shots to get in straight. I ovoid them like the plague. Pull through or back in. Depending on the parking garage height is a factor.

Parallel street parking is also sporty. Otherwise no harder to maneuver in traffic than anything else. Of course for close to 35 years I drove fire apparatus on the same streets so an extended cab long bed wasn’t much of a problem. YMMV

I don't even THINK about trying a parking garage... Around here, those are even dicey for a SRW CC short box, not to mention a LWB CC dually...

The new ones all have back up cameras. Mine doesn't but I installed a trailer hookup camera on the license plate that shows how much room I have back there. It helps a lot when parking.

If you get one, measure the height. Parking garages will often have a bar you drive under so you know if you're in danger of hitting something. Some have very little head room.

Our Indian casinos have higher ceilings than municipal garages. Also they are huge and you can usually find enough open spots to pull through otherwise stay on the street is good advice.

I guess I meant are they longer/wider, so the front wheels can turn without hitting the frame? I didn't know they did that on trucks. Good idea though. My grandpa had a 7.3l F-350 DRW, supercab, 8' box to haul his camper as well. It was a damn fine truck but it did not like tight spaces!!

A F350 CC 4x4 dually long bed is my daily driver, I even added a Ranch Hand bumper with a 15k wench to make things more interesting. The width is more of a hindrance than the turning radius, bit it's no big deal.

Other than my motorcycles, this is my only 'daily driver':

2020 F-450 long box.. . Very easy to drive - and with the extended front axle it turns very short compared to the F-350... I just love it...

Why didn’t you get the expensive one?

Nah, that's just the kind of insults you can expect from him. He gets his jollies from trying to hurt people. I just forgive him and forget it. He has to live with himself. I don't.

Rock Chuck,

Joking about a mini-van shouldn't "hurt."

If it does, that's more your issue than my own.

I love my beater long bed f250. It’s a single cab though. I’ll DD it for a bit, then the fuel bill hurts my feelings and it gets parked unless needed.

Never an issue getting around town or parking.

Nothing sissified about a minivan. We have one and it it’s suitable for a lot of reasons. Take the back seats out like RC did and one can camp in the hard-shell tent. wink

I hope these tires wear better than the last truck's Michelins.. Never had so much trouble with tires as I had with those damn things.. This truck wears Continental HD3s; I think they're 14 ply on 19.5" rims... smile

Just changed a set on a 4500. They went 45k. Been runing them for ten years, we usually get 35k out of a set. But this was the first truck with an automatic transmission, which probably contributed to the longer life.
