I am just not a AR kind of guy though I am all for highly efficient cartridges in accurate rifles. I have a couple bolt action 6.5 Grendels that continue to suit me just fine. Have to admit mini action 6ARC peeks my interest as well. May just purchase my 1st Howa rifle b4 long.

I think a mini-action in a handy package / barrel length would be useful

I was all for Handi rifles until I had a action open at the shot last fall. I now have a regular reminder of the lasting effects a person may undergo from what I will call a backfire. That brass in the eye browhas taken its toll on me. could have been worse. frequent itch of car tissue and a purple that does not function correctly is a realities small price to pay i suppose. A bit of a wonder that I have any interest in firearms yet much less a Handi.

I think 65BR was talking about a handy, extra-short bolt action, not a break-action Handi Rifle.
Your incident sounds like a malfunction. No Handis here, but TCs and Henrys can't be cocked if not locked. Did you have the rifle checked after it happened?
What fresh Hell is this?

The Hornady manual data for the 6.5 Grendel with a 100gr bullet tops out at 2700fps, so I gotta wonder how they squeeze more velocity from a shorter case through a smaller hole at the same pressure level (AR platform). A little optimism with the figures wouldn't keep me from buying one though. I expect better support from Hornady than Nosler gives their .24. That seems low, this is from the Ramshot manual for Accurate 2520: 100 NOSLER B-TIP 31.8 2,767 51,834 2.230 C (max load). BUT, that's a 20" barrel, and the 6 ARC numbers are for a 24" barrel. https://www.ramshot.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/WPHandloading-Guide-7.0-Web-REV.pdfAll that said, there's nothing wrong with the Grendel, especially as a hunting round for medium game. My personal take, though, is that this case size is about perfect for a 6mm bore, since the highest BC 6.5 bullets don't really fit in the Grendel. The other cool thing is that varmint weight bullets will shoot nice and flat, while still having decent BCs. The 65-80 grain varmint bullets seem like a good place to start. I've got a few things to sort through first, but a 6 ARC upper has replaced a 6 DTI upper on the buy list. I'm thinking 20" barrel, though 22" is tempting. The hot tip is to buy E-lander mags if you want hi-cap, that's what Barrett used for SOCOM. The smaller (17/10/5) mags should be pretty reliable in any brand.

65BR,
Must admit that other than noticing Hornady's announcement on the introduction of the 6mm ARC, I haven't given it any thought!

So JB, you still shooting the 6 Creedmoor? Hunt anything with it? Got some 6 Arc action coming up? MB

MB,
Not planning on a 6mm ARC, but you never know.
Have the 6mm CM rifle still, mainly so I have one in case somebody wants me to write about it some more. But haven't taken any game with it, probably because it gets exactly the same velocities as the .243 Winchester, and I know very well how the .243 works on anything from prairie dogs to big game, since I bought my first over 40 years ago.
