3300 with 180s would be pretty stout for a 26" barreled 300 Weatherby burning a compressed full house load of IMR-7828. At least that's what my Roy and my Oehler tell me.

I would keep the ammo in the shade or in a cooler. It can make a big difference with certain powders. Another thing is to chronograph some match 22 rimfire and use it to make sure the chrony is set up right. You need to be exactly 10 ft from the screens I think. You could always write the factory and let them know what lot number you have and they could tell you what is normal deviation. whelennut
I like to do my hunting BEFORE I pull the trigger! There is only one kind of dead, but there are many different kinds of wounded.

I got a NULA model 28 in 300WSM a few years ago and it kicked like a SOB with Fed Premium factory stuff. Was told by Mel that they load that factory stuff real hot to get it up to 300Win Mag numbers. Don't know if its true and never ran the loads through the chronograph.
I like my reloads better.

I would fire another few shots on another day with different light conditions. Some chronographs give strange readings with different lighting.

In my opinion that's part of the problem with the short mags. They load them up really hot so they get the velocity they brag about, and they still don't quite do it and then they kick way too hard. Instead I think they should brag about the short light gun and not try to make them as fast as the others. I load for a friend that has a remington model 7 7mm Saum and with factory ammo it is one brutal fast kick. We're loading the weakest load in the book and it's a nice light gun with the power of a hotloaded 270.

I would fire another few shots on another day with different light conditions. Some chronographs give strange readings with different lighting. I think thats definately worth a shot, it was very sunny out. Just cant get over seeing Bear shoot and the chrono saying 2750 and then I shot and holy crap. He shot quite a few rounds trying different loads with different powders and all his numbers meshed up which is why I didn't flat out say "that thing is broke!". I do know a guy that makes custom ammo in Delta Junction and ships it to match benchrest shooters in the lower 48 and I recall him making ammo for a buddies FinnLite 270 WSM and he couldn't even come close to Federal factory velocities without pushing the envelope beyond belief. He told me that he didn't know what the heck Federal was putting in their shells to push them that fast. This was my first time chronoing factory ammo so you can imagine why I was like "Holy Chitt".
