...the smell of black powder in the evening. 20 year old Black Cats still work. Imagine that. Maybe I should put a fuse in a pound of Goex, whaddya think?

Naw, I have 6' of green fuse. I'll just hide behind a big old oak and put my fingers in my ears.

OK, I finished my celebration with the demise of another couple dozen Black Cats. No fingers were lost. Sounds like a war zone outside.
Are we fixin’ to get ready?
Back to the bench,
DD

That made all the dramatic music and the walk through ankle high grass with a briefcase worth it..

I was talking about tonite, not yesteryears.
Remember this; I only have to move one finger on my left hand to flip the bird.

Did not blow a can of black but maybe a 1/3. It sure was nice to hear that boom 3 or 4 times as it traveled away.

DD, you're reminding me of a dear departed old fiend (the typo fits! ) of mine. Told me he used to use some black to "lift" stumps he'd cut and chopped out some of the roots. Until he "lifted" on over the garage roof. The old lady put a stop to that. I haven't lit a Black Cat in years. Drier than the proverbial fart here, I'm staying away from lighting anything that might get away. Thoroughly wet down the area around my charcoal grill today even though it's just some little grasses growing up through the gravel. America.....................gotta love it..................in all it's spectaculerness.

Got pretty loud here around 9PM. Went out on listened for projectiles falling on the roofs but heard none though I'm pretty sure a neighbor emptied his 9MM near by.

Yeah it was loud around here last night. Went on for hours. Way more than in prior years.
And I did pick out several magazine-emptying discharges amongst the pops and bangs.
That said, today's the day after and my normal first reaction to hearing those two words is something out of a Tom T. Hall song.

I wouldn't have wanted to have had to make a pontoon landing on our lake last night. You could just about walk across all the ordinance going off from along the shores. Some pretty big stuff too. At least a couple military grade parachute flares. My neighbors two doors up had quite the shindig going.
