A very good friend of mine had the Coronavirus. A full-on case of it. Fever and flu-like symptoms etc.. he has been recovered for two-plus weeks now.

Went by to see him 2 days ago. We visited for a few hours and drank a 2-3 beers together. Neither of us wearing masks or being especially careful around one another.

If you think this behaviour was foolhardy please tell me why in specific detail.

If you feel this behavior was perfectly normal... as do I, please explain to me in specific detail as to why.

I am looking for specific facts... NOT emotional responses.

Empirical reasoning only please. Thank you kindly for your thoughts.

What's the concern. Covid left him and moved on.

PS. Bean brain doesnt know how to apply. Nor do his buds, unless it's for welfare or reparations. Otherwise, they have no positive identification.

Probably Ok, it appears that the virus can linger in the body of those who have recovered but it's likely that they aren't contagious after recovery.

https://www.livescience.com/coronavirus-spread-after-recovery.html

Quote
At that point, the individuals were likely not very contagious, Johnson said. Coughing and sneezing spews viral particles around, but these individuals were not coughing or sneezing. Their viral loads were also low. It would take more intimate contact to spread the virus.

"They should be careful in the household setting not to share drinks and make sure they're washing their hands frequently," she said. "But if they're just a carrier, they shouldn't be able to transmit outside of that close contact of shared beverage and food."

I visited a friend once who had been bitten by a nasty snake in Nam, probably a krait. No discomfort on my part, the snake was not in the room.

Its hard to know because the statistics are so skewed. I’ve not seen any articles that discuss how long a person who has tested positive may be contagious. For that matter, what does a positive test even mean?

Today, I attended the funeral of a nephew. No one social distanced. Who knows what price we will pay but we shook hands, hugged, and few wore masks. Our family needed to be together during a horrible time. So we came together along with 200-300 others passing through the funeral home.

Its time for life to go on. The mask wearers were the old and health compromised. I still subscribe to the science that if the virus can really be passed through someone breathing or coughing, then the same particles can pass through your eyes into your bloodstream. It is a settled scientific fact that an eyedrop such as those for glaucoma can pass through your eye into your bloodstream in 10 seconds.

Go forth and visit with anyone you want to. My family and those in attendance today have no qualms about what we did. If someone tests positive, so what. No one was forced to attend.

From the CDC.

Patients with Persistent or Recurrent Positive Tests

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/201...h-Persistent-or-Recurrent-Positive-Tests

Quote
Whether the presence of detectable but low concentrations of viral RNA after clinical recovery represents the presence of potentially infectious virus is unknown. Based on experience with other viruses, it is unlikely that such persons pose an infectious risk to others. However, whether this is true for SARS-CoV-2 infection has not been definitively established.

Typically, after the onset of illness, the detectable viral burden declines. After a week or more, anti-SARS-CoV-2 immunoglobulin becomes detectable and antibody titers rise. Some of these antibodies may prevent the virus from infecting cells in cell culture. The decline in viral burden is associated with decreased ability to isolate live virus. Efforts to isolate live virus from upper respiratory tract specimens have been unsuccessful when specimens are collected more than 10 days after illness onset.

Persons who have tested persistently or recurrently positive for SARS-CoV-2 RNA have shown stable or improving signs of illness. When viral isolation in tissue culture has been attempted in such persons in South Korea and the United States, live virus has not been isolated. In addition, there is no evidence that clinically recovered persons with persistent or recurrent detection of viral RNA have transmitted COVID-19 to others.

Despite encouraging observations to date, it’s not possible to conclude that persons with persistent or recurrent detection of SARS-CoV-2 RNA are no longer infectious. There is no firm evidence yet that the antibodies that develop in response to infection are protective. If these antibodies are protective, it’s not known what antibody titers are associated with protection from reinfection.

Based on these data and experience with other viral infections, most persons recovered from COVID-19 who test persistently or recurrently positive by RT-PCR are likely no longer infectious. Additionally, the magnitude and persistence of the immune response following recovery may vary among individuals, with factors such as age potentially influencing protection. Based on limited available data, determinations must be made on a case-by-case basis as to whether recovered persons with persistently detectable SARS-CoV-2 RNA are potentially infectious to others and should continue to be in home isolation and excluded from work, school, or other group settings. Such determinations are typically made in consultation with infectious diseases specialists and public health officials, after review of available information (e.g., medical history, time from initial positive test, RT-PCR Ct values, and presence of COVID-19 signs or symptoms).

You're fine, the whole Kung-Flu thing is a bunch of over blown bull schit.

If Obama or Clinton were in the White House, we prolly would have never even heard about it.

Carry on.

The need for public approval is a bit disturbing, as far as the flu goes, if you get it you probably did something stupid. If you dont get it, lucky you..

I brew my own beer, I'm actually rather good at it.

We were drinking an IPA, a Brown nut lager and coffee/kahlua blend.

And finished off the visit with a Dos Equis.

There is a "Glory Hole" forum on the web somewhere I am willing to bet.

I might be a bit reluctant to go to the gym and be a spotter for someone that's huffin-puffin after they'd recently been diagnosed + for CV-19. I don't think I'd give a 2nd thought to beers and conversation with someone though, as long as they had good beer........

When there's two people living in the same house, same bed and loving on each and one gets the China flu and the other one doesn't, there's no logic behind this BS. You'll either get the China virus or you won't, my advice is to carry on you only have one life to live.

Outstanding point, his wife did not get the Kung Flu... nor his daughter or son in law or granddaughter. They all live in the same house.

I say “fine.”

All the clinical reports are the equivalent of how modern medicine killed George Washington. I don’t trust a doctor or any specialist, as they don’t know and the advice is all over the map. Masks and the people that wear them are worthless. Life goes on and death and disease are not new.
