The Crappies are some slabs!!!How does your Son like his pontoon boat?I would not mind having one myself.Huntz
Thanks! They were very nice crappie. We had a bunch of 15"+/ 2# fish this spring with the biggest being right at 17"/3#. It didn't take Layne very long at all to get comfortable in his kayak. We started at a local farm pond early this spring to give him experience on a small body of water before heading out to the lake. This trip was a dual-purpose trip as he also wanted to test bass lures that he carved/weighted/painted to get them to suspend and give them the action he wanted. A lot more work than tying the jigs (and required filling the bath tub several times for testing to get the action he wanted), but they worked very well on the bass. Definitely triggered a reaction strike from the bass!
On the next trip we moved out onto the bigger lake, but stayed back in the coves where there is more protection from the wind. Layne really likes the independence of being on the water and being able to decide where he wants to fish. Picked up a couple of used kayaks (Kilroy is a sit in and the Cuda is a sit on) to go with his, so we are now in the process of getting them rigged up for fishing. Now we will be able to take a friend along to join the fun.
