Poor jack needs some feed. He ai t getting enough on pasture.

Also, I'm certain your PD has a business (non-emergency) phone number tbat would be better to call for this sort of thing.

Some places do not have non emergency dispatch. They tell you 911 is the number for emergrncy leo, nonemergency leo, animal control, street problems etc.

I think it worked in this case, as donkey is back home.

Yup. And lots of folks should be tied to a tree with no food or water for a couple weeks too. Watching some poor fuggin donkey hobble around on skis for feet because the pasture isn't abrasive enough to wear down their feet is criminal. Negligent because they are either too stupid and naive to know any better, or too callous to care.

You can probably apply that to any type of animal and owner. Unfortunately there are no prerequisites to own animals. Those skis for feet are usually the result of founder.Donkeys and mules are famous for being easy keepers and a rich diet will founder them at times.

In places like AZ or NV, the wild donkeys tend to go back to their wintering grounds where there is little forage and eat thier last years manure. They fair very well. The only poor ones you see are those old ones with their teeth so wore down they can't chew.

That donkey in the photo is not all that bad of shape.Typical donkey build. More of a pronounced ridge on the spine vs a horse, sloping rump, and they should be a little bit ribby.

Here is a top breeding Jack.Notice the similarities in body confirmation.

Y'all who think this was a bogus use of 911, don't know much about 911.
I spent 14 years answering 911 when I was a paramedic in Georgia. This call was more legit than half the calls that come in to 911. Honestly you would not believe the BS that, every day, comes in to 911.
And this was a legitimate call, because, this was some valuable property that needed to be returned to the owner.
Plus, this animal had to cross a busy highway to get to my place. He might well have wandered back onto that highway and caused a car wreck.

I think that my county does not have a non emergency number. If they do, the 911 gal would have given me that number and sent me on my way.

Y'all boys are watching too many tv shows if you think every call into 911 involves a life and death emergency.
