My elderly neighbor (who was a farmer) went into a nursing home and I have been helping his family clean up his property, including a shed that is/was chock full of stuff that hasn't been seen in years. Included in a big pile of traps (conibears and leghold traps) was this one that has teeth attached to the jaws. It's rusty enough that I can't make out any words anywhere. It has a rectangular pan and as you can see the jaw opening is about 6 1/2" long. I have been tasked with selling a lot of this stuff but I can't seem to find any information on this thing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

it is bigger than the #3's I had. Prolly a #4, 40 or 44, but I can't remember the designation for the teeth models. Maybe 'E'?....

Blake and Lamb #40... seems like there was an "E" model. I believe the chain has been replaced.

I think the 40E has a big pan. Thinking it might be one of the beaver traps they made?

I believe that is a B&L #40 designed as a beaver and otter trap. The small pan is correct as is the chain and rind.

I am always looking for factory wood stocks!
