I think of Hornady Interlocks as the non-premium bullet with premium performance.
I am always skeptical of bullet failure reports on lost animals because of the following:
A well hit animal can easily run 50 yds. in the open and suddenly drop with no initial blood trail. Most of us have seen this on more than one occasion. Yet, hunters will report shooting animals from ~100 or more yards and the animal disappears from sight after 10-15 yds of running. They "profess" to be 100% certain of a "good hit" and "blame bullet failure" even though they have no physical evidence to support it; i.e., no recovered animal.
Well said, and the truth de Could be the truth, could be BS. I've shot animals I know I've hit well, and they run off to parts unknown. And I've been with guys that swore they hit the animal but it ran off and you knew damn well they missed them or gut shot 'em.
What goes up must come down, what goes around comes around, there's no free lunch. Trump's comin' back, get over it!

BrowningGuy88, were you butchering those Angus bulls? We sell ours.....bringing about a dollar a lb right now as burger bulls. We had one blow through 2 fences after he was gathered, but he got his trailer ride to that styrofoam box in the sky eventually. .

We only butcher steers or yearling heifers.

I loaded the Hornady 180 Interlock in various 300 WIN MAG rifles for decades. Used Alliant Re22 and never had a bullet "blow-up" or lost a deer. I'm using those bullets up in a 30-06 SPRG now, been using a Mule Deer load using Hunter powder, the bullets still perform fine on whitetail. This. in 300 win and 308 Norma

BrowningGuy88, you mean you just shoot em and dump them? Man, that's $1800+ I can't afford to lose from the bottom line. We keep them till about 4-5 years old, then after breeding season, take them to town. They go to town younger if they get hurt or don't test well.

The 150s were pretty destructive. The 180s are good to go. I did some penetration test and the interlock was the closest cup and core to the Nosler partition, this was before the Ballistic tips were beefed up so might be different now. Since the core lock got put on a budget I think the interlock is one of the best C&C bullets around especially for the price.

After a night of running one through pine wood thickets and him tearing down fences and running over people, I forget about the bottom line. The last one broke 4 ribs and bruised a knee up so bad I hobbled for weeks. He got the 45 Colt treatment. And if it hadn’t been for a dang good cut dog, he’d have put me in the morgue before I got a chance to shoot him.

I've never owned a 300WM, but have owned a 30-338, aka 308 Norma, one of my favorite bullets was the 180 grain Hornady FB. I used H4350, I don't remember the exact amount. What I did was add powder until I got a little over 3000fps, then called it good because it shot great. You can get the same performance out of your 300WM. If you can't get one shot bang flops on deer with that kind of power, you'll need a better excuse than your bullet choice.

BrowningGuy88, Think if one run over me, I'd shoot him too! They can be a bit hard to handle, especially when they get old and cranky.

I’ve shot exactly two deer with a 300 mag. Both were shot with 180 horn sp flat base. One was a rutting 9 point at about 75 yards quartering away. Ruined his heart and he ran about 40 yards before he knew he was dead. The other was about 200-225 broadside, shot tight behind shoulder. He did about the same thing. Small sample but I’d use it again without hesitation.
