So she's one of those psychobabblers who believes there's some way around the fact that it takes a certain kind of intelligence and hard work to really understand mathematics beyond the trivial.

How do you teach a subject that you don't know yourself? Invent it as you go?

It's called "Marxism in practice". No one learns anything but the RIGHT way to think about various topics. Which is what much of math in public schools has become as well, along with history, writing and grammar, science, and every other usual subject. The Marxist math goes like this: If a white male has $700 dollars, how many People Of Color should he give the money to because of his privilege, and how much to each one?

I know what you meant, but at a high level you do "invent" it as you go. One requirement for my dissertation was that it must contain original work of quality sufficient to be publishable in a reputable journal. The fact that I had several papers (the ideas of which became dissertation chapters) already accepted for publication in refereed journals meant my committee and the dean of the grad school didn't have to meet for long to decide.

Libs don't like to talk about different math aptitude among the races because it undermines their mantra that the only differences in racial equality are due to us discriminating against the blacks and keeping them down since 1619. But the facts are, with certain exceptions, that blacks just don't have much mental aptitude. Their average IQ of 85 is a good part of it. Despite 50 years of affirmative action, you almost never see a competent black engineer or scientist. Perhaps one out of a thousand. Lousy inner city schools dominated by the cold dead hand of teachers' unions, homes without fathers, and a ghetto culture that razzes any blacks who achieve anything don't help the situation.

There are segments of the population that are unable to grasp the concept, due to a lack of gray matter.

Nurture or Nature, it's not likely many scholars are going to be produced by schitt public schools in violent, drug-filled communities, especially when parenting is sketchy or non-existent. Politicians are never going to fix that, gotta get out if you want to break that cycle, not easy to do.

I sure hope "it" never designs a bridge or sky scraper.

A friend of mine is a licensed Civil Engineer. I bet nobody ever asked him to nurture up a bridge design.
