My Dad told me a German invented the lightbulb. Dad was good for stuff like that. A German discovered America A German invented the automobile A German invented the airplane. You name it. A German did it first. He'd gotten all this from his father. He was trying his best to pass it on to me. Lightbulb? Yep! Look it up! https://www.mysteriesofcanada.com/ontario/first-electric-light-bulb/1854 – Henricg Globel, a German watchmaker, invented the first true light bulb. He used a carbonized bamboo filament placed inside a glass bulb.

Many did just that before Edisons patient. Edison worked on it for years. the hold up was finding a filament that would last more than hours or days. Tungsten was the key to Edison's success where others failed.

This all reminds me of the largest load of horschidt ever written, by the master apologist, Diamond. Guns, Germs and Steel. This crock was quite popular a few years back, in a nutshell, this guy Diamond tries to show that because of soil, climate, pests etc the sub saharan Africans were short changed. And by pure luck the world's first agricultural societies won the lottery of life. And then he compounds it by saying that because of the leisure time created by efficient agriculture, the "lucky" societies went on to invent little things like the wheel, advanced weapons, hygiene, steel...gaining an unsurmountable gap between the lucky (friggin' euro trash) ones, and the unlucky ones like the Yoruba. Even an ignorant ass such as myself can hardly wonder why some of the lucky ones then emigrated to unlucky continents and farmed their asses off for 500 years...or at least until the unlucky ones kicked them out, and in short order the unlucky ones had to begin importing food, or starving, which is what they are good at.
Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
