This - just got this a couple weeks ago and so far its a shooter grin Shaen Rifles built 7MM-08. I had hoped to use it on antelope this year but didn't luck into any tags so it will be going deer/elk hunting instead.

Only thing I'm building are some new handloads using Badlands Precision Bulldozer bullets. 128gn .277's in 270Win, and 196gn .308's in 300Win. So far I'm pretty happy w/the 128's and Ramshot Hunter, but, I'm going to try some '26 as well before I run a bunch. I'm hoping to start and finish w/'26 in the 300.

Mine is completely vanilla by 'fire standards.

I got a 700 Package Rifle in 308 last year. This year I had it bedded into an HS Precision stock and had the barrel cut to 22". Got done working up loads about a month ago then zeroed an older Leupold 4x in Weaver rings and bases. Now just working on shooting offhand.

I am working on (3) now:
1) 6.5-06 Mauser
2) 250 Sav Rem700
3) 25KragAckley Mosin Nagant

[Linked Image]
Got the Lilja barrel threaded, chambered, and headspaced at 0.060" go, 0.064" no go, yesterday.
The dreaded Mosin Nagant extor relief cut is today. Will be on the mill in a rotary table.

This “campfire special” has been in the works for a long, long time. At least 9 years.

LR98 chambered you 6.5x55 Swede. Haven’t even gotten a 3-shot group on paper yet.

Boyd’s JRS Classic in upgraded French walnut purchased semi-inlet for my first-ever custom along with the “meh” anodized aluminum bottom metal from Brownells with the pronghorn molded into it. MJBGALT sold me the action a long time ago, Boatboy sold me the 1.5-6x Sightron, JKob sold me the Wisner safety, and I can’t remember who sold me the Apex Rifle Company take-off tube.

The real mastery, which will come as no surprise to those who’ve been here long enough to remember him, was the stock work by Karnis who put it on a serious diet, refined the shape w/ grip scallops, added the ebony end cap and red decelerator. Grasshopper, another long time contributor here, referred me to the gent in Central Michigan who did an outstanding job on the the wrap-around checkering.

Bold trigger, jeweled bolt by Skip Baldwin, and parkerizing done by a client of mine.

Hoping to get a super mild load of IMR-4895 under a 123 GR SST or AM shooting lights out for deer this fall.

There just is nothing better than being hypnotized by a gorgeous stock in my lap as I breathe in the fall air waiting for da turdy point buck to show himself!

Sent a 7mm-08 Kimber Montana to JES for a rebore to .358.

Stock was sent to TStorm1 for a midnight elite tactical paint job.

Both hopefully back this week.

225 Nosler Partitions over TAC await.

I'm using a Ruger #1 action with some refinement to the metal as a basis for a custom 300 H&H. We have squared up the action and taken the little tab that sticks out on the bottom off reshaped the the metal on the bottom of the receiver and recessed the safety. Banded front sight and custom quarter rib. Metal will be case hardened all wrapped up in a stunning piece of English walnut..

1. Remington 700SA SS trued by Clarence Hammonds previously
2. #2 Rock Creek 6.5 1-8” twist/Holland recoil lug
3. 24” bead blasted, .75” shank, can’t recall the specs on the throat. Shaen knew I intended to use the 147s exclusively and went with his recommendation.
4. McMillan MR edge bedded by Clarence Hammonds previously
5. Trigger Tech primary
6. PTG BDL bottom metal bead blasted
7. Talley 20MOA rings
8. Sightron BigSky 4-16x42

Forgot to add that I had him do his bolt bushing service. In its previous life as a 1-8” twist 243 it cratered primers on near everything. Problem solved.

Have all kinds of new stuff to play with once it cools down a little more. I bought a Forster Co-ax press, Forster BR FL dies, magnetospeed chronograph and a BUNCH of RL26.

Not a build but sent out a Fieldcraft 22-250 for a rechamber to 22 CM, if all the stars and planets align and the ATF pulls their thumbs out of their A$$ I will get the stamp approved in April for my Dead Air Nomad 30.

My northern 16 day BC hunt for goat, elk and moose was deferred to 2021 via Torino... The rifle will be my M700 rebore 338-06 (by Cliff LaBounty in 1994), bedded in a McM Rem KS takeoff with the 185 gr TSX. It has worked over the years.

efw- That’s a great looking rifle! Karnis did some nice looking work.

I have a mini grendel that may see deer this year if I don’t go muzzleloader. Boomer is whittling the stock. I have it in the youth stock at the moment.

I bought a Mauser 98 barreled action for some reason and have been trying to figure out what to do with it. Kinda want a thumper. Maybe just go 9.3x62 Shaw rebarrel and a laminate stock I can file on for a while.

My new Timney trigger is backordered.
There is a scalper on Ebay that wants double price.
I waited it out, and now the trigger is in the mail from Timney.
Meanwhile, I had to cannibalize another rifle for a trigger for the fitting.

Where it is red, I have to dig out the stock for clearance.... including some of the rear pillar.

MM thanks yeah he was very skilled in stockcraft as well as extraordinarily generous with his time I remember being pretty astounded by how little he charged me on that. Just an all around great guy like many I’ve met here.

A mini-Grendel sounds awesome to carry and shoot and totally up to the job of killing a whitetail.

That sounds like a great plan but I don’t think Shaw makes 9,3 tubes? I could be wrong on that tho...

Funny you mention this as there is a FN 98 action in the classifieds right now and I’ve been seriously contemplating a full blown custom right from a stock blank up in 9,3x62 or .30-06.

One... last... custom...

I bore coated the barrels last night.

I have to put on 3 more scopes and load ammo.

I leave for hunting in a week.
