Unless you are right up into the teeth of the fire, a P100 will do fine.

If you want to take full advantage of the opportunity, get an MSA Millennium. Put a couple of smoke filters on it, mirrored lens, voice amplifier. I’ve worn that getup to the grocery store since the panic.

The bad part of wildfire smoke is the 2.5 particles, those are the tiny ones that sink right it. Two point five micrometers or smaller. And the fines travel much further, so even here in Montana, where we've got just a little smell, and it's blotted out the sun, and visibility is maybe two miles, that stuff is bad juju and you shouldn't be breathing hard if you can avoid it.
If you've got a painting respirator, that might help, the good part about respirators is, they freely let air through an outlet while the filters are the inlets.

We were in CDA, Id. a couple of years ago to watch my youngest son compete in an Ironman race. There were huge fires in Washington and the sun looked red in the early afternoon. It was the 1st time he ever had to walk during the run in more than 20 full Ironman comps.

Miners always carry a self rescuer to give them a chance of escape/rescue in case of a fire. When I took the Mine Rescue course we were told that the self rescuer was effective but that the side effect was breathing air that got hot as it worked. Your chances were directly proportional to your ability to suffergrin

On the contrary N95 and KN95 masks filter out more than 95% of almost all particulates. They filter down to .007 microns.

I'm trying to go with limiting time outside. I wore a cloth mask outside building some stairs but then the glasses get fogged up.. so it doesn't get worn half the time. I was only out there a couple hrs a couple of times today and I definitely feel it got a mild head ache that I'm pretty sure is linked to it. And this little blip of a "system" isn't going to much of anything like they hoped a few days back. But looks like Thursday we should get some real on shore air movement enough to bring in clean air i hope. Still smoky way out there on the sat photo

Another fan of organic vapor/P100 cartridge. I went on a 20 mile bike ride to the store yesterday with no ill effects. Also used riding goggles. PM 10 was about 400 yesterday. People sure do give you wide berth in that getup.

Campfire brother,

Get well soon.

Don’t you pile up a bunch of ice cream and candy to kill a bear?
Might try that, brother Roy.
