On wed Sept 16th I attended a local gun auction held outside. I figured you guys would want to know the going rate for some old school rifles. Quality was very high. Many were winchesters. Here are the sale prices for a couple of the rifles I was interested in. Savage model 99 F in 308, was hunted with but not bad. Had a cheap scope in tip off mount with a sling-- 800. I was extremely happy because I just bought one in way better shape for 625. Savage sporter in 25-20 with scope-- 400. Savage 1899 TD first year in 250-3000 with cross checkered trigger and perch belly stock. was okay except had a pretty bad tang crack-- 925. Remington model 25R carbine in 25-20 was redone-- 825. Here are a couple of interesting winchesters. Win model 54 in 7 Mauser, was redone-- 3100. Win 88 carbine in 308-- 1400. Win 88 in 284-- 2200. Win 1964 model 70 in 225--- 2800. Win 88 in 243-- 4400. Win 88 in 358-- 4600. I was fortunate to take home 2 all original winchester 1894 TDs with 26 inch octagonal barrels. One was in 30 WCF for 800, the other was in 32 Spl for 1250. There were many others(71s, 64s, 1886s.) Feel free to ask questions and I will answer. I am so glad I invested in old rifles instead of stocks. Fun to shoot and and increasing in value!

Win model 54 in 7 Mauser, was redone-- 3100. Holy cow! That's another one of those "you take it any way you find it" guns. (Although Ted will disagree. 😁) I think I'll have a big gun auction out in my front yard. Curious what some of the stuff is worth.😀

Auctioneers are the biggest winners at these contests.

Just like any commodity there is a time to buy and a time to sell.
The curve always goes up and down. Nothing good lasts for ever, but nothing bad lasts forever either...
