Anything special about them? Anything especially bad about them?

I was just wondering if they actually function well as varmint bullets. I can get a bunch of them cheap.

I never used them on varmints but have worked up loads for predator hunting in my 22-204, 5.6x50R, 6x45mm and 6mm-204. They work just fine. I like the 55gr NBT Lead-Free's in the 6mms and 40 gr NBT Lead-Frees in the .224's. I did have problems with seriously large exits with the 62gr Varmint Grenades but they were accurate. 40gr NBT LF out of the 22-204. I've killed a number of coyotes with the 6mm and they work fine also. Our state was talking about going lead-free so I got on the stick and was going to have ammo ready to go so I would be out hunting instead of sitting home knashing my teeth over the stupid new law. If it ever did happen I'd stay hunting.

Bought 500 rounds from Nosler for my 222 on some ammo closeout they were having. 35 gr lead-free. They shoot about 1” at 100 yards, but the gun will shoot 1/2” with most other ammo. It’s hard to fault the bullets as I’m not really convinced this load is the best for a 14 twist 22” sporter barrel. Fortunately, I got them on the cheap and will just use em up for the brass.

I live in CA and am forced to use them. They work fine for what I do (squirrels and other small vermin). I shoot them out of a .204 and a .22-250.
Barnes Varmint Grenades in the 50 grain version key hole at 100 yards out of my 1:14 Remington 700 .22-250. So now I'm shooting the 36 grain version without issue.
