Sad way to go. One mile from the camp and lost in the snowstorm. I'm surprised that his body didn't show up sooner.
I was asked to read the Bible over the phone to a precious lady who will likely leave soon too. I thought that I'd have another opportunity to share the gospel with her the next week......The Drs gave up on her lung cancer, so she has been sent to a hospice. Life is fragile and short. That is why I wished that I shared this with her.

There was a guy from the Flathead elk hunting who went missing and the S&R spent a few weeks looking all over hell until someone went back over an area already searched and found his body sitting next to a pine tree, compound bow at his side, apparent heart attack. He was about a mile from his truck too.

In 2011 I hunted the Uinta's for Mountain Goat with my brother(who had the tag). It's big country, not surprising that it took awhile to find this guy.
A good friend of mine died at age 58 of a heart attack while goose hunting.

Note to self: Never ask an old Fogey how he is doing today. Revised note to self: Keep it short when someone asks how I am doing.
Heart attack outside is one of the better ways to go out, around here I'd prob'ly be et by hogs tho

Bear crap has a certain cachet about it, especially if mixed with bear bells and a hint of pepper...

We picked up an archery elk hunter in the Uinta Mountains on part of our trip that took us from Vernal Utah to Lone Tree Wyoming. First part of September this year and the snow had the place covered up. We were in 4WD going slow and saw him sitting by a road sign. His truck was 2 or 3 miles away uphill. It is beautiful country and in the past I've seen a good many deer and elk.

I had a great uncle that died while camping with his wife and a friend on a fishing trip. He had a heart attack and it took forever for the ambulance to get there and it was too late. It was hard on his wife for a while and then she realized that it was what he would have wanted, doing something he really liked, not in a hospital bed tied up with tubes.

Much to be said for this.

No argument there. I've hunted in the same area and I'm sure he had a beautiful view in his special place.
