I agree that turkeys are pretty stupid, but they’re also very skittish and have very keen senses. The net effect is the same as if they were smart.

As long as you’re not feeding (baiting) them, go ahead and shoot however many is legal, but if you value their presence, I’d ambush them somewhat away from your property if possible. My yard is full of rabbits, squirrels, and doves, but they’re off-limits except in times of famine. Damn rabbits showed no respect for my poor, old lab when he was still around, but he didn’t take it to heart.
