Someplace, I've seen the full video of that encounter. I don't recall where, but when put into contest of all the BS the officer had to deal with leading up to it, well, it's even more impressive.

I thought he was going to have to shoot the younger one that was going to run up on him. He will live a little longer at least. I always worried that the department I worked for never trained us well enough for just a similar situation at this. I took crooks to court and medical outcounts as well as regular transfers. You never know when someone will be STUPID in a NO STUPID ZONE! I have done lots of training on my own. My employer only did the minimum training their lawyers told them they HAD to do. No extra anything. We only shot 66 rounds a year to qualify. Scary isn't it? Be Well, RZ. . Your department is typical of most departments including my own. Sadly many officers feel its a chore every time they qualify. Me, i can’t shoot enough.

That guy probably practices drawing a lot so it comes without thinking, I doubt that lady shot at all more than she was absolutely required to qualify.

His arm moved up and deflected that gun from his face before he had time to process what was happening. Both of his arms did exactly what they needed to do and they did it all in a second,..maybe 1.5 seconds, max. If I had to guess, I'd say the distance involved is typical of a lot of gun altercations.

Great vid, thanks for posting. That cop is good, deflected the BGs gun while drawing from at least a level 2 holster and fired from retention to extension 3 times in about 1/2 a heartbeat and immediately called it in. He demonstrated the value of training,practice and most of all MINDSET. Real life is not easy  mike r I thought the bad guy shot once and the cop shot twice. P Correct, the perp got one round off, cop double tapped him.

I’d like to see the several seconds before this snippet. Looks like the officer had already sized up the situation. It would be helpful to see how this escalated.
Bubba was waking but the right hand wasn’t visible as it should have been. Officer demonstrated good situational awareness with his hand on his own weapon. He was like a parent watching a kid try to get by with something.
