Probably Queenstown.

Might have been a blend of possum and merino.

Oops...you're right. It was queenstown, not queensland.

I'm not even drinking! This could have been a REALLY good night!

I'm a weirdo I like the old style wool sweaters, shirts, jackets etc...

Got a few of them Irish fisherman's sweaters. Don't fit anymore but Im working on that.

Buffalo plaid shirts and long underwear.

Wait,

aren't we boycotting Boulder, CO and everything made there?

It was given to me as a gift several years ago, by a friend. It was during the Obama administration , so my hoodie is grandfathered in. I won't purchase anything from Boulder, I promise!

OK, we'll give it to you. Especially being it was a gift and all.

But beware...............the Campfire boycott police are watching.

Lucked out and got some of that "possum" stuff one of the times we were in NZ - gloves/socks/neck scarf - and it is good - warm and zero itch. What they call possum is not like those here - some other NZ critter.

20 years ago, moved up to 8k elevation forests and some real winter weather every year (even the transition periods can be a challenge). I needed to call upon experience from growing-up days in PA and hunting in the PNW. Best combo for me was long sleeved/legged silk undies (good insul and comfort) and differing weights of wool over those. No itch due to silk under and best in wet weather.

Finding reasonably priced US wool pants was not so easy, but finally found some European mil surplus in two weights - good solution. Eddie Bauer wool shirts and one pull over of similar wool, and a Filson jacket over that when needed. Never liked wearing a balaclava, and keeping face warm never fully solved.

I don't have the first damn clue if this is what they make that "wool" out of down there, but these are what they call 'possums in New Zealand.

After a bit of google-fu, I have come to the conclusion that the beanie I referred to is a Possum Merino Wool Silk Beanie Hat.

You all are GOOD!

Have maybe 3 shirts that fit for church or the other 3 times a year I dress up.

I don't have casual clothes,
there's new for going away,
once stained or faded they become,
work clothes.

For keeping warm I wear a lightly insulated Carhart vest or a light, or heavy
Carhart zippered hooded sweatshirt.

Mix and match. The vest and the heavy sweatshirt are a winter combination.
If it's cold, a cheap fleece zippered shirt gets added.

I grit my teeth when the females in this house mention a hoodie.
The nearest project is 40 miles away, I sincerely doubt a "Hoodie" will
ever set foot in my house.

The only things that's zippered are t-shirts and polo shirts.
Don't like pullover stuff, and it's too hot.
If you get hot, you have to either sweat or take it off.
Zippers allow adjusting how warm you are.
And I rarely zip up unless it's cold and I'm out for a long time.

Get you some lighter festive colors.
Don’t wear the brown and black ones to the Walmart’s.

Sams club had some generic Mississippi logo hoodies the other day. Seems heavier that the Carhartt. $16.

You would have to add a cool hundo to that 16 before these fashionistas would even consider it.

Negative ghost rider.

I don’t wear the $500 loggers either.

I hate hoodies because as the temp changes, I don't like pulling things over my head like that. I have various Carhardt jackets and coats, but they aren't great if there's rain involved. My go-to jacket for coolish weather is a cheap soft shell that I think my wife picked up at Costco or somewhere. It's light, surprisingly warm, pretty water-resistant and doesn't get "staticky" like pile fleece. You can find them pretty cheap on the interwebs and they just work.

Completely different, but my Marmot Driclime Windshirt is the most versatile piece of outerwear that I own. Lined with a wicking flannel liner and mostly windproof, it's lighter and warmer than fleece.

Any quality med weight full zip hoodie is a good idea. The med weight for flexible layering and the full zip allows for quick heat loss if needed as well as easy on/off.

I shun expensive branded stuff as I DO NOT pay to advertise for Cabelas and UA, etc.
