Bottom line... Regardless of your state’s law (even if you live in a “stop and identify” state), the police can *never* compel you to identify yourself without reasonable suspicion to believe you’re involved in illegal activity. Period. I don’t think anyone will get away with not complying with a request for ID anymore. When I was a youngster I just once wanted to give the Vulcan “V” hand sign and reply “citizen, planet earth” when stopped by the cops and asked for ID. I just never had a night I wanted to needlessly spend in jail.

It appears that your church has a working security protocol and members that work together. Those cops responded to a legitimate concern from a solid source and acted effectively and thoroughly w/in the legal parameters. You have the right to refuse to ID yourself but you may be detained, legally, for further investigation if there is a reasonable suspicion to do so.
If you see something, say something. This only works when a community believes this is for the good of itself and the authorities support the concept. I have often heard on here the mindset that "snitches get stitches", a commonly used phrase in prisons and ghettos.

If you are out of town and want to pray to Jesus I would try depending on availability (in no particular order) Eastern Orthodox, Catholic or Episcopal. It is similar to seeking rescue abroad in embassy when yours can not be reached. Choose French, Israeli, Swiss, Vatican. Never go to British because they will sell you out for a proverbial nickel or dime.

Any church today, that does not have meaningful & complete security systems & plans in place, & be fully willing to carry them out, is in real jeopardy of having a life threatening incident...........sooner or later.
